Lewis Taylor

Hahaha........played his best footy running around on his own on a wing cause no one cared if he got the ball as he just doesn't hurt you.

Can't defend, can't kick over 30 meters and first instinct is to go backwards.  Pass.

He has talent but don't think he has been taught to tackle and chase. Roos would either not rate him or perhaps think he can teach him this.

Average wages at the moment are 350/yr next year average will be 400/Yr you'd think. 400 for a fringe player. So 500 not crazy money anymore

Are you aware Roos won't be our coach next year?

you don't think Roos would be involved in assessing possible recruits for next year?

he has some experience in the area

This from CB covers it

" See James Aish, Jimmy Toumpas, Kane Lucas and Jono O'Rourke. "

All good juniors who are struggling at senior level.

A large number of high draft picks do not make it and he is another.

Didn't he get dropped this year? 500k, you are kidding yourself Lewis!!!!

He wants out - rather than just walking, he asks for a large amount of money which Brisbane won't match, and then he can claim it was a contract stand off that forced him out.

If Brisbane cave and give him the money then not only have they called his bluff, but he got far more money than he expected.

For 500k - no. But, I think Lewis Taylor should be looked at (even approached). He does offer something we are lacking - clean, efficient and effective disposal. Taylor is good by foot - either foot. He is great on both sides of the body. He moves well, isn't dissimilar to Nathan Jones in the way that he evades opposition players. I think the kid has some clear upside, but.. He also has a lot of issues - on field and off (by the sounds of things). On field his weaknesses are that he doesn't chase (either way). He doesn't put on enough defensive pressure, nor does he find enough of the football. I don't see these as big problems. The big problem for me is the 500k asking price. I feel it is unrealistic.

How is running backwards 15 meters then kicking the ball 15 meters efficient?

Sometimes you have to go back to go forward. Look, I won't argue that Taylor is having a good year. But I will argue that he can play football. I believe he would be a good addition to our squad. I just don't believe he is worth the 500k price tag. That is where it sits for me.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
