Nicely formatted. Extra kudos for using bullet points.

Within a relatively short space of time the selecting of teams has changed quite a bit ... it's getting like other sports where squads are more operative.  Even just a year or 2 ago things were a lot more clear cut.

I reckon even the absolute locks are possibly going to need a game or 2 off such is the nature of the sport ... the new rules that are in place are large factors (especially with the limited rotations)

Yes and I want it way lower.

Ha ha, fair enough, I thought all of NT was. I want to travel the world chasing winter or live in the northern part of Norway so if some one mentions heat in an area I hate it.

I just checked the forecast for the game - 23 degrees and 33% humidity

Jetta Garland Frost

Vince T McDonald N Jones

Stretch Tyson Bugg

Kent Hogan Kennedy

Garlett Watts Pedersen

Spencer Neal-Bullen Viney

Petracca Harmes Hunt Michie

I know we won by 10 goals on Sunday, but I think we could see a large number of changes against Port. Jetta, Tyson and probably Pedersen/Dawes will likely come in. And our worst players against the Lions were defenders (O McDonald and Wagner IMO).

  • Spencer for Gawn – Gawn looks tired and needs a rest, so I don’t think we would lose much in this swap given Gawn’s very recent form. Obviously Gawn’s best is much better, but I doubt he can get through the season at a high level.

  • Jetta for Wagner – Wagner was poor on Sunday IMO and Jetta needs to come back in for someone.

  • Frost for O McDonald – I think we need to maintain an extra tall in the backline and Oscar isn’t ready yet. I think Dunn is finished given the zone defence we are playing. So I would try Frost.

  • Pedersen for Newton – Newton is very unlucky and it could be Michie or Hunt instead.

  • Tyson for Oliver – I wouldn’t risk Oliver given he looked injured and we have only a six day break.

  • I hope we play both N Jones and Vince off half back. Our backline looks dysfunctional and I think we have enough inside ball winning mids now to do this.

My smokey for this week is White, Trengove to be considered, all other South Aussies to stay in and Hogan BOG.

Stu, if they were to make these changes, who would you have in the backline because you've dropped four defenders. Obviously TMac, Garland and Jetta, but who else?

Back 6 would be TMac, Garland, Jetta, Trengove, Grimes, Bugg/Vince

Just reckon this game is a good time to rest Hunt and Wagner, and Michie just hasn't done enough to stay in IMO.

Do you think they will play Trengove in the backline? I know he could, he is definitely smart enough to, but he has been playing as an inside mid the whole time at Casey.

He's a little bit of a mystery package I guess, but my concern would be throwing him into the middle after 2 years out. Could always rotate through there, maybe even with Jones, Bugg or Vince.

What's wrong with Viney?

I've heard nothing about an injury to him..

Gray getting off....that's laughable that is. Since when did force come into a trip? I don't recall any of Fletcher's trips being light on. Rules on the run? One for some, not for others?

Another one Michie has 22 on his back, you do know that, what is his role in the team? ¥

Huh?

13 touches, 3 marks and 2 tackles is not enough of an impact. Didn't say he was terrible, just don't think he's best 22 currently given the form of some of the seconds.

Can't believe we're being talked up as clear favourites for this one. Port are playing ok and pushed a good side last week. I hope we can get the job done but feel they just have us covered on form. Agree with others that Gawn needs a rest but would want to be sure Jake is ready to run out a full game with little help.

Cool.

Go to the thread. Someone suggested it might have something to do with his back.

Out; Oliver, Wagner, Hunt, Michie

In; Tyson, Jetta, Pederson, Grimes/Trengove

* I could see the Gawn out for Spencer situation occuring

* Oliver only comes out if needs recovery from cork.  A spell this week should have him cherry ripe for the run up to the bye (a very important run that could decide our finals aspirations this year)

* Would be very surprised if we dropped ANB or Newton

* If we are making 3/4/5 changes this week, we MUST pick blokes that are AFL hardened (hence why I think Tyson, Jetta and Pedo are locks).  They are rock hard fit at the top level, and coming off a week off will only be of benefit to them.  Throwing in too many "VFL fit" players could see those guys running out of legs at the top level, and actually work against us. I wouldn't want to see all of Grimes, Trengove and Dawes coming straight in to this side.

We are on the cusp of entering the eight and this week Is another must win. Cant see the match committee experimenting with JT anytime soon.

At most we might see

- Spencil for Gawn (Managed)

- Tyson for Viv (unlucky but Tyson Is a class above If fit and Viv's disposal/option selections & numbers are still not up to AFL standards)

- Dawes for ANB (we need a 3rd effective tall forward who can also relieve In the ruck/play higher up the ground...certainly shouldn't be left to  Watts to relieve in the ruck even though he was ok).

- Jetta* In for Wagner*. I like Wagner going forward also though. Just needs to clean up his good work a little which will come with experience. 5 clangers on the weekend didn't help his cause.

You can't see us "experimenting" with the in-form and ready Trengove, yet you want to bring the underdone Spencer in?

No Jetta? No Pedersen?

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
