As I said,  all mouth and trousers, do you also stand on the steps of the State Library shouting and when asked for alternatives produce absolutely nothing?

I have been to quite a few AGM, you have the occassional dissenting voice, but it is usually about something so trivial it borders on force

Where are all the dissenting voices at the AGM?

I have not been to an agm since beffore i started losing interest if the way of our team  & the way the game was heading  're zones'  etc.

So I guess you can put me down as just another  'stat',    as one of those who are drifting away from the game...    at least i care enough to try online to get my point across,  in the   'Hope'   that people will recognise the value of idea.

Otherwise,  doing the  'same old',   just to keep those 'inner-city'  Dees happy,  will just cause a slow death into the abyss.    Maybe one day  'the Blues'  will take over the Dees,  after  'North'  has headed south,    to Tassie?

You can get your point across, but if you are not really interested anymore why bother, what is the point in bemoaning something that you don't care about, makes it more about you than the footy club..............when I arrived in Australia many years ago was told there wasn't a class system to worry about, you seem to contradict that notion

It sounds like Dyson Heppell won't stick around at Essendon past this season.

I wonder who he will end up 'nominating' out of Hawthorn, Geelong and Collingwood.

yes, we need to chase this guy to stop him getting to one of these  ^  ^,  +  blues & saints.

Because I still love this club !!! not what it stands for, or who;   & I've never known how to give-up.  I just never will.  But that does not mean watching games on TV, or attending games I don't like to watch.

So that just leaves me,  to protest in a way to try to get the game I love,,,,,  back.

So does that mean you don't have a membership anymore? Do you attend games? Just find it a bit rich if you are bemoaning something which you don't invest in either in time or money or anything else tangible

correct.

I currently live past Wilsons Promontory,  more than 2.5hrs drive to the 'G'...  & then turn around to go back again.   Or 1 hour drive to the station, & then 1Hr 45Mins to the 'G'.  & then back again.

# Why would anyone who desires a close contact with their club,   continue to pay,   just to supplement those in the MCC,  who  have all the contact with the players & the rooms downstairs,  the huddle on the ground is done in front of them,  & they get all the trimmings & share nothing...

.....  since realising this point of view,  & getting the feeling of the 'defensive insulatory attitudes',  of those inner supporters,  it dawned on me of this self bias,  & I in all good-conscience,  I cannot support this 'same old mantra'.

Otherwise I am contributing to my own clubs deemise,  whilst those comfy supporters get it all.

And it is this ^  ^  ^,    that is causing the slow strangulation of my club,  from the ankles up ;   the club I grew up fighting for,  against all the other kids who barracked & cheered for  'the Blues',  or 'Saints',  or 'Tigers',  whilst they gloated of they're successes.

It's amazing how other lowly teams like St Kilda and Collingwood make scoring look so effortless. 5 goals in the first 7 minutes of the game, all through running and effort.

With the exception of fleeting moments in the GWS game, everything about our team looks timid and slow. We still over-possess and seemingly do everything possible to make kicking goals a difficult chore.

Absolutely pathetic from Pendles there, and after all the publicity about Boekhurst's shameful diving.

Captains don't do [censored] like that.

I like the way St Kilda play. They run hard and play on all the time.

Rooting for the Saints all the way. They play footy like they enjoy it, not like it's a miserable chore.

First quarter over and 10 goals kicked, and the players don't even seem to be out of first gear; just imagine if we'd played with this bare minimum of effort last week.

Pendlebury doing that will probably be good in the long run. That will get serious scrutiny in the media next week and umpires will be spooked into paying them in future. It was a bloody disgrace though.

Yep, same boat.

You obviously saw the Pendlebury incident Saber. That needs to be stamped out once and for all.

I am a soccer fan, and I constantly get it from footy fans about diving, and deservedly so because I hate it. I think they need to do what is required to stamp it out before it just becomes an accepted part of the game like it is in soccer.

When you've got protected species like Selwood and Pendlebury making an art of dropping the knees and ducking for frees, yet it's treated as a joke by the entire industry, there's a serious issue.

Not to mention the total glossing over, and almost applauding, of Mitchell and Hodge's dirty off-the-ball tactics... because they're "champion players!"

You are probably right. That will get a huge amount of coverage this week. Hopefully it leads to some common sense decisions for the good of the game.

I remember for a stretch last year they were being harsh on players ducking, and they would have treated that as prior and paid HTB against Pendles. But it looks like it has gone back the other way.

Just a massively blatant duck and playing for the free. Got it and converted the set shot.

You will see plenty of it this week. It was not a good look.

Pendles was being tackled from behind, then blatantly ducked/nudged his head against the laws of physics straight into the tackler's arm. Umpire immediately paid a free kick to him 40m out directly in front of Pies' goal.

Saints player cracked it, dumbass umpire looked at replay and goes, "yeah, he probably ducked, but it's a free kick."

Staging/playing for free kicks [censored] me.  A couple of years ago didn't they say they were going to fine players for that? What happened to that?

Look how Saints move the ball. We look like we are on ether compared to them. Shits me to tears how slow we are.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
