Will be in Asia this week. Now that the Liberals have obliterated The Australia Network who is showing games.

Fox or is there another player?

Always a Bonus if the game is on Cable to a hotel room.

Sports Bars in the Philipines are still a rarity as Faultydet and i have found out together. But if i know a specific network is showing AFL it is easier to tell hotel staff or Cab Drivers

Any Demonlanders in Asia now or just come back?

I may buy a tablet over there but the streams are average. I want to know what Network is doing AFL, as i know it still gets there.

Fox or Star Sports is my bet

Not sure if it's still happeneing, but I do remember the Telstra/AFL live pass thing having a free month trial a while back. You could possibly do it that way?

This may help too:

Ok thanks. That looks like a stripped down ABC Service so hopefully Hotels still subscribe to it.

It'd be doubtful IMO. You may be able to get it as a pay per view channel in your room though. Maybe email your hotel and ask and then you can compare the AFL app to it cost wise etc. Or try and find a local Aussie pub?

I was in Bali last May and Australia Plus had live AFL games.

Thanks Praha Cool i am sure Thailand and Cambodia will be the same. There is a great Sports Pub in Manila that is owned by an ex Freo Player so that is covered

I live overseas and have used watchafl.com.au to watch AFL. Provided you have a decent internet connection it works really well, I've watched both our games this year without it cutting out or playing up once (I did voluntarily shut down the final minute of Saturday's game though). You might be hard pressed to find an alternative in south Phillipines.

If you can track down an Aussie bar wherever you are I reckon that's your best bet. They generally find a way to have the games on. If you're in Manilla, look for the Howzat bar (not sure exactly where), a few mates of mine have been regulars there in the last few weeks, they have a good happy hour too from what I've been told (10 bucks all you can drink for 3 hours or something). Some live streams are ok, but I couldn't find anything for most round 1 games, and was out n about for round 2, so didn't get a chance to watch anything. I'm in Thailand, so can't really help with a network for the Philippines sorry. Hope that helps, a little.....

Same. Not interested whatsoever. Not sure I'll even bother looking for a feed for next week either TBH.

Australia Plus shows six live games a weekend, it's better than the old Australia Network. And any decent western pub will also have AFL live pass. You actually get better live coverage free in Asia than in Aus.

If you're in Phnom Penh, Aussie XL near Wat Lanka are aligned with the local expat footy team who are in turn loosely aligned with West Coast. They will certainly show games, but there are more than plenty of other places in the city and Cambodia who subscribe to the AFL pass. Southern Philippines I have only been to during summer and as briefly as possible in Cebu.

When the Libs came in and revamped the Australia Channel there was a lot of talk about there being no more AFL.  The only real difference is the Australia Network has been renamed Australia Plus.

1 Friday night game

2 Saturday day games

1 Saturday night game

2 Sunday games

We're pretty well looked after in Asia and when the Melbourne matches aren't covered, the AFL Live app work well.

Thanks 39 Can you run the AFL Games through an internet Cafe computer or Hotel computer if i join and then log in?

For everyone's info. If going to China it can be harder to watch a game. The AFL App doesn't work over there. There seems fewer hotels showing the games. Where once it was common I have not stayed in a hotel with AFL access over there since 2011.  Aussie style pubs outside Beijing and Shanghai are rare as hens teeth and I  have not seen one.

I watched the GWS game in Shanghai at the Big Bamboo (does this help?)

Most decent/semi-decent hotels and resorts around Asia seem to have the same basic cable, that includes Australia Plus.

Afl live international can just be accessed through the AFL site.

Let me help you.

Australia plus is available through the cable network WETV,  most bars that cater for expats will have it.

Aust+ is also available through True Move cable service.

Can anyone recommend an Aussie/Sports pub in Bangkok that will more than likely screen the Queen's B'day clash?

There's a small, but good, place called Bradman's that will definitely show it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
