maybe Goodwin should take over. Would we fare any worse.I think Roos has been ok but would a change be worthwhile or is it just a case of shuffling the deckchairs. Although a few have suggested that roos was outcoached today. Maybe this group needs someone that yells at them. It would make the supporters feel a lillte better.

Nope. He constantly runs to receive in the wrong spots making it hard for team mates to link up with him. Then he runs in to trouble instead of taking the first option. Almost all of his runs end badly. Shocking footballer.

We've got North, Collingwood and Richmond, will all 3 or even the last 2 and everyone will jump back on board, but yeah it's poor and will hurt the club.

I don't particularly want to open up this can of worms, but I will. I wonder whether things would be different had Roos come for the long haul. Had he been entirely invested in bringing back the Demon like he did the bloods. There's no doubt he's done wonders for the culture at the club, but this soft-bellied performance today certainly sets back quite a bit of the hard work done over the last 12 months. Can Goodwin bring a new spirit to this club?

You won't get much support for that opinion, but I know where you are coming from. I don't think he was "one of the few good players", but I did appreciate his efforts to give some run off half back, considering we severely lacked run all over the park today. But despite that, he was still poor and turned the ball over consistently.

Agree his decision making could be better at times but he seems to be the only one trying to do something at times, the bigger issue are the players not even there to give options. 

Two or three years ago there was a review of Melbourne after a dismal loss. Seven words was enough to explain everything. Seven simple little words that drove a dagger into my heart. I hated seeing that written about my club but it was spot on. So much time has passed but those words come back to haunt me again.

Maybe it's the coach but then I think maybe it's the players and a combination in two groups:

1. Those brought in from other clubs who don't particularly have a connection to the club.

2. Those who have been here too long and don't have much pride left to play for. 

That said I don't really doubt Jones, Viney and Gawn's commitment to the club. Same for others like Watts. Bernie Vince as a trade in player seems to give his all. 

Always a bit of a catch 22 when you need to win to build that culture but it's hard to win without it.

I somehow managed to stay calm throughout today;perhaps the most disturbing thing for me was the look on the Demons supporters faces that were leaving in the last 5 minutes of the game.Truly a sad day for us supporters.

Hogan did his ankle in the first, wouldn't be surprised if he didn't play next week

GIve me a break, watch the replay, I don't recall any of his disposals hitting the target. He should come and play over here in WA, his kicks reach such an altitude they might bring us some much needed rain. 

I'm starting to feel that all us poor old MFC fans are all extras in Groundhog Day.

I don't think today was the end of the world because I wasn't surprised. I would've happily snuck over the line and been ecstatic to be 2-0 but our last 5 minutes of fumbles didn't allow it. In the end it was an old fashioned "Rely on Vince and Jones" game because our younger group who we are used to being consistent now just weren't up to it. We got clobbered in possessions and also lost tackles which was the most disappointing part. Oh and Daniher. Our defence was an exciting prospect a couple of years ago but now we're getting clobbered by talls and I'm not sure Garland's up to it. Also not sure if it's the long term spot for Salem. Jetta is our best defender at the moment. We sucked, but Essendon were certainly inspired. Anyway it was close the whole game but we didn't even win one damn quarter. Not sure if I'll continue this paragraph. Can we win 2 games in a row please?

Edit: No I will start a second paragraph to point out that Matt Jones nearly lasted 6 quarters as a good player. Good on him

He got the ball a few times and then disposed of it, hardly what I'd call good.

He does absolutely nothing when he disposes of it, he doesn't try to hit a target, just thumps it on the foot and its anyones best guess as to where it will go.

For all his praise of he provides run and carry he seems incapable of bouncing the footy so his "run" isn't any further than about 12 metres.

I do think match day Goodwin is a better coach and the team would get more benefit from a setup like the NAB cup, Roos overseeing rather then calling the shots

Garland was woeful today. Absolutely woeful. And when did we become so treacle slow.

I get so jealous when I watch the Western Bulldogs.

I wonder if Roosy's ego got in the way of today's game? A fight between titans of another era, so he allows the game style to revert back to a stoppage based, contested style, but Worsfold's men were clearly playing the modern day style of run, carry, spread. Disappointing if that's the case.

I wouldn't. His kicking at goal killed us, but at least we was able to find the ball today. He was quite influential at the start of the third. He just couldn't put it on the scoreboard, but he was in everything. I reckon he's a confidence player and given he managed 23 possies, I don't think dropping him is something we want to do. At least get something out of today's game. Tyson managed to get a bit more of it and laid a few tackles. Had he converted his three shots, he would have been one of our better players.

It's not like we have a Prestia to come in to replace him. Despite what some people seem to think, we still lack a lot of solid midfield depth.

Tom McDonald's kick was terrible. Everyone's had their say on him. I'd be more concerned about his deliberate and other poor errors that show lack of composure. 

It was super windy today. So it had to be a day to attack using run and carry and accurate short kicking before using the wind when it suited. 

We did little of that.

Agree with all of that. But particularly on McDonald who I screamed out to have some composure. He panics and it's a real worry for a player of his 84 game experience. By now, he should have learnt his weaknesses, be steady in a contest and make the right decision. He repeatedly fails to.
