Can't agree with this sorry mate, but i also appreciate this isn't the topic to debate that on, this will be a really interesting test for our boys, i believe not only do we need to win, but we need to win well, anything less than a five goal win would be quite disappointing in my opinion

i think most people would agree that the players carried less blame than the perpetrators and organisers

but that doesn't make them blameless as some would argue

there is plenty of evidence pointing to their complicity and they couldn't all have been unaware of their responsibilities and obligations. They let the wheel spin and must suffer the consequences

Agree, but I tend to compare the Footy team environment to the Army environment I experienced for a few years, you learnt not to question and sometimes wore the consequences of not asking, but I was not universally condemned for being naive or following orders

They may be the least to blame, but blame still is there.  The Hird-acolytes are not doing this to just benefit the players, they are trying to whitewash themselves hiding behind the players and even the new clean ones.  Some form of protest is required to  make the point that the real guilty parties have not been properly penalised.

No I just feel this has been done to death over the 3 or so years it has been dragging on, we had a good win on Saturday, why do we need to spoil the upbeat vibe we now have as a club after so many years of misery, let's just enjoy the game and cheer our team, if we have a good solid competitive win, that will do me

If you think booing or name calling will actually achieve anything then you are very naive, unless you actually need it yourself to make you feel good (some booed Scully on Saturday, had a real effect on him didn't it)

The true 'guilty' people in this whole sorry saga will never be brought to account, let's get over it and just get on with enjoying the footy

I go to the footy to enjoy it, I look away when Tommy Mc goes on one of his mazy runs, I slap the chair in front of me over a poor umpiring decision, I clap good pieces of footy and cheer and applaud goals, and stand up and sing the song with gusto if we win

But booing, name calling, etc........nah, could be the lack of alcohol in my system of course, but stopped that in the schoolyard many years ago

Not sure how sticking the boots into Essendon will " spoil the upbeat vibe" of Saturday's win.  You can wallow in that misery if you wish but as a supporter I can enjoy both..

As to "booing or name calling", well it seems to me that most supporters do  at least one of those on a regular basis. Achieve anything ? Well it makes you feel good and show support for your team.

I agree with you about enjoying the footy Saty but we may do it in different ways and if that upsets your tender morality then frankly IDGAF!

well i don't remember the army signing up to wada - lol.  besides the army conveniently even have their own internal legal and detention system.

you won't win many arguments equating professional sport to the armed forces, but nice try

whilst the afl is a signatory to the wada code  it will take precedence in these matters.

BBO, you are probably right, it is not my tender morality though, just don't see the point in the booing or name calling, bit too childish for me, found the booing of Scully on Saturday highly amusing, had a real impact on him didn't it, put him right off his game NOT..........but as long as it made people feel good then great.....personally I am always in a good space

You can say what you like, but i do not buy the players didn't know what was going on...They with held information to WADA & that is a fact

Youngsters, back in the day, we dees referred to Essendon as the "scum."

Part of going to the footy (for most of us) is putting down the other teams and their feral supporters.

The bulldogs guys are so annoying because they are so polite.

But those of us who enjoyed the demonland forum footy against the dons in recent years met up with fellow footy tragics, who just happened to belong to the other tribe.

I have a mate who handed back his Essendon membership when the scandal broke, but his reaction was not common. How would we have reacted (as individual supporters) if it had been our club?

I don't think I could abandon my tribe, no matter what.

My two cents says we should let them have their protest without our participation.

But if a fight breaks out, I will way in with both crutches.   

Can people who join the fight wear the club colours please? Just in case you come within the arc of the crutches.

i understand that saty, but the armed forces discipline model is far far more extreme and not a good comparison in this specific context. this is not training for life or death situations or defence of the realm stuff, despite the fact two clubs in particular claim to liken the anzac day contest to a "war" -  lol

It was never suggested that booing etc was meant to put opposition players off their game but rather, that it is simply something that supporters do - often as a cathartic process. Do not bother trying to point score with spurious and irrelevant comments - it only highlights the paucity of your position.

In relation to Scully , one could well have seen him being interviewed by all and sundry after the game, if they had have won, talking about how much he was spurred on to the ramparts by the Demon riff raff booing his Lordship.

no point booing the players out there because they are either top ups or they were cleared. My brother suggested throwing syringes (not real ones) at them while they are walking there march.

Id say just thrash them on the scoreboard.

Mein gott in himmel, had to go to Google thesaurus there for a second, again this is a public forum, so if I don't agree with an opinion, it doesn't necessarily equate that I hold a position that is weaker than yours...it just means it is a position that you don't agree with
