can we go for him in stead

What we don't need on here i another messiah addition to distract the club

If White is pick 30 or so and has what we need don't pick him because of his name please?

Pick 26 was pretty good for Jack Viney.

I see similar in Kalani to Jack, in so far as he has grown up loving the club, wants it to succeed and being mentored by one of it's greats. I know Taylor and Co do highly value attitude over talent and I think Kalani has alot going for him in this respects.

Similarly, I don't think we should undervalue father son players being invested in the club, as opposed to being just the first team that drafted them out of the U18s.

The draft can be something of a lottery anyway.

First time poster, long time lurker. Bumped into a Dees recruiter after the game today. Said Kalani is basically a lock and has verbally agreed with the club. Take with a pinch of salt, just passing on what I was told.

Also said we're heavily into Mitch Marsh this year. Room for another Bison?

if i take it with a pinch of salt, can i take it as gospel?

we'll need a first round pick for mitch marsh, i suspect

The whole qld academy access for father sons is an absolute farce. Just reading luke Hodge's kid is part of Brisbane lions academy. Can't imagine hime going anywhere other than Hawthorn, just like Kalani shouldn't be anywhere else but the dees.

Thought the academies were about growing the game to people and areas that aren't traditional... as opposed to hoarding players that are destined regardless

the word is that hodge's son is more likely to pick the bears than dingley

which is sad, imo

Kalani not named in Cal Twomey’s first phantom form guide for the year of the top 25 prospects…

No surprise there, but not disappointed either. He's a project player, happy for him to fly well under the radar.

Didn’t expect him to … think he’ll go in the 50s as a pick to be matched by MFC

Father/Sons and Academy players are all romantic but in an equalised competition with 30 players picked before you get to Round 2 of the draft it's now ridiculous.

Collingwood have three top 3 picks and Brisbane two. In the absence of these rules Brisbane's first pick would have been much much lower

Checking the math here, 3 plus 2 = 5.

Between them they have 5 of the top 3 draft picks.

Please explain!

presuming you mean three and two first round picks for the filth and the bears?

Different years

5 picks of players in at least the top 3 of their draft year

Collingwood... Moore, Josh Daicos, Nick Daicos

Brisbane: Levi and Will Ashcroft

Plus more to come for both

Jaicos was nowhere near as highly regarded as Naicos in his draft year; Quaynor was probably in the top handful of his, think he slid to pick 10

Asked AI about Mitch Marsh (google it is done its AI it now.
Mitch Marsh’s 2025 Draft Projection

Despite strong SANFL U18 output, Mitch Marsh does not appear in any of the major mid-season top-30 power rankings from Fox Sports, ESPN or Zero Hanger2. That omission generally signals he isn’t viewed as a first-round (top 20–30) prospect at this stage.

An in-depth SANFL U18 Player Focus profile praises Marsh’s aerial prowess and athleticism but stops short of assigning a draft-order range — another indicator clubs see him as a later pick rather than an early bargain.

Most talent evaluators now expect Marsh to be taken in rounds 2–3, roughly between picks 40 and 60 on national draft night. That window matches the pattern for strong state-league forwards who’ve shown upside but lack the draft-breaking metrics of top-30 juniors.

Would you like to see comparisons of similar-sized tall forwards and where they landed on draft night?

Twomey has Marsh #8 in his current phantom guide

Does that just exemplify the difference between human and artificial intelligence?

Father-son is pot luck, we'll get our chance at some point. White may make it in the end but I think it's fair to say he's not going to be a game changer for us given his output in the unders right now.

in fairness, when he was selected max gawn was yet to be the cultural and game-changing force that he's been for over a decade now

give kalani time to grow into his body i reckon

that last half of his only vfl performance was super encouraging for mine

Kalani White may take 2-3 years to fully mature but he has footy IQ and natural ability on his side, he will develop quickly once in the DNA and standing 200cm with a great spring could play fwd/ back or ruck.

Gawn had injuries galore in his under 18's year which is why he went as late as he did so it's a very different scenario.

As I've said, I'm not writing White off as a player in general. What I am writing off is that he will be the game changing top pick we all had hoped. I mean he's potentially going to be taken in the fourth round at this point. And this is after a full year of 18's without injury, the advantage that comes with being part of an academy and having a father who played AFL.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
