Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2015 Player Review - # 4 Jack Watts

What will be different next year.

Serious question.

We will probably continue to see a key forward size player who still cant take a contested mark, and skirt the outside of packs waiting for someone else to get him the ball, but he will be a year older, and less valuable as a trade option.

So yeah, you shouldn't be such a doubter. Of course some things will change.

As long as he plays we will look like a 'soft' club to others...that's not my opinion but the opinion from other supporters from different clubs....we should try to off load him to send a message to the AFL community...

The only reason he is still on our list is because we used our number 1 draft pick to get him.

Would like him to stay.

I would prefer to see get the hell out!

Poor bugger has had to put up with more than any Footballer ever should have. If Goodes had to cop what Jack has had to put up with, he would have retired 5 years ago. No one, not even we keyboard warriors, deserve what Jack has copped. The attack on his integrity and his self worth are soul destroying. He is tougher than any one of us here. I include myself in this. We have every right to discuss his football prowess, but some of the crap both here and DL is too much to bear. GIVE IT A REST,

ohhhhhhhhh no he's not.

That's his problem. He is not up for the physical side of AFL. If he had mongrel, to go with his undoubted talent, he would be , hmmmm, let me see. Jesse Hogan?

Grow up Mate. Really??

I get the love for Hulk, but you don't have to put others down to show your unrequited passion for him do you?

Jack Watts will continue to be a disappointment, until he is traded, or delisted.

Most of us can already see that Jack does not have the necessary desire to put his body on the line in order to win the ball. That is a trait that is unacceptable if you want to play in the heat of finals football. If we had a midfield full of Dangerfields/Kennedys/Hodges/*Cripps', then we could carry a bloke like Jack for most of the season, for his undoubted skills.

But we don't have anything close to that, and don't look like having that type of midfield in the foreseeable future. Therefore, we must have players all over the ground, who can get their own ball.

Jack doesn't, or wont, because he cannot bring himself to maintain composure while under physical pressure.

I don't need to compare him to any other player, for most others to understand, and likely agree with that opinion.

Mate, what do you do for a living? Are you in the public eye and judged for what you don't do? Is your character assassinated every time you plug your head set in? Abused from outside your cubicle window? These blokes love the game. The fact they get paid is a bonus to all of them. It DOES NOT give you the right to hurl abuse and vitriol their way any chance you get just because they don't meet your lofty standards. Grow a set for f--ks sake.

The guy gets eight kicks a game.

Yes, he's a good user of the footy, but his numbers are thoroughly underwhelming; inside 50s (1.7), goal assists (0.48) setting up Hogan goals (just once) etc.

The notion that he'd go from zero to hero if he just had a bit of ticker is flawed. He doesn't get anywhere near enough ball to really capitalise on his skills and make an impact on the game.

That's the sort of criticism he SHOULD be receiving. This is based on his FOOTBALL ability, not denigrating his character. Good on you Grape.

You don't speak for 'most of us' at all. JW no composure under physical pressure? Really? I don't think so.

Time to let him be.

Jack's seeming unwillingness to put his body on the line, or to put it another way, his softness is not denigrating his character, but critiquing his package as a footballer.

If Jack gets upset because of what fans say, he shouldn't read the forums. That or toughen up, as he gets paid ridiculously well paid to do a job he supposedly loves, yet he himself admitted this season that he has watched some of his efforts on the replay and felt embarrassed by his 'effort'.

If Jack wants to change how he is seen, he knows what to do, he has told us many times. He needs to walk the walk. That supporters like you think that his efforts in his career have been acceptable, says more about you than those that criticise him.

Yes but not to cop this crap. He is one of the most respectable human beings we have. Do we hav to insult and abuse him just because he's not an animal that meets the expectations of the lunatic fringe?

We/I are not insulting him as a human being!!! Please remember that this is not a personal attack on Jack in that way. It is what he does in regards to his football and whether or not he can help our football club be successful.

Don't even go there Mate. Your seeming obsession with putting others down to make yourself seem oh so righteous is legendary around here. The thing is, Jack doesn't give a Rats Toss what people like you or your like minded sheep say or think. No matter how you try to justify your slander, it doesn't give you the right to abuse Jack, or any other player. Even though you will probably scream "but I pay my Membership"! Who cares!

Look, I don't know Jack anymore than anyone else here. I'm just sick and tired of the [censored] he cops from so called supporters. He has copped it since he was 17 and had the honour of being drafted to this Dogs Turd of a Club. It isn't his fault!

Legendary around here?

Full of .... much?

Jack is on the record as saying some of his efforts in the past are pathetic and embarrassing, yet according to you, fans can't make similar comments.

Yet I am the righteous one?

What a joke you are.

Watts being dropped for round 22 and his 18th finish in the B&F is a portent of things to come. The refusal to rule out trading him is also a shot across the bow.

If Watts remains there are clear signs that unless he raises his effort levels he'll spend more time at Casey than Melbourne. The ball is in his court.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
