Coburg Lions v Casey Scorpions

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

A month or so ago when the MFC injury list was dwindling and Casey was playing up to 15-16 Demons in their side, they were winning games. It's quite likely that today they will be down to 9 or 10 and, if he plays, I don't see Dean Kent having a big role in the outcome because of his lack of match fitness. That doesn't augur well for Casey's finals prospects because next week they take on top four team Sandringham at the Beach Oval.

And for those who will miss big Jack ~

I'll tell you what, I'm over you having a go at me whenever I have something to say. What say I catch up with you before the Carlton game and or any other time and we can just have a little chat. I don't care what this costs, I have had enough of your continued criticisms of my posts and personal attacks.

LOL!!!! Poor PF.

The team for the main game has just ten Demon listed players including Dean Kent who is obviously lacking match fitness after he badly injured his hamstring in the Anzac Eve game v Richmond and playing ½ a game in the development league four weeks ago. He is expected to get limited playing time in the hope that he can add to the team's playing stocks in the finals. Tim Smith also makes a timely return after missing most of the last half of the season.

It's a very inexperienced team with three players Anderson, Corrigan and Rennie coming in for the first time this year. Between them they have played a handful of senior games (this partly explains the development team's poor showing). Then there's the team's lucky charm Tom Papley who is 23rd player and was handy in a couple of wins early last month in the middle of the team's mid season winning streak that put it in finals contention in the first place.

Is it being broadcast?

No, for some reason Channel 7 have a problem when it comes to covering Casey games. They have a delayed telecast of Collingwood v Richmond which started at about 10.30am. Pity they don't want to share the games around all clubs. Casey have been covered once this year on the 7 network. Casey Radio only does VFL games on Sundays.

Meanwhile, Coburg open their account but Tim Smith gets his second and the lead is back to four goals.

Half Time and not for the first time this year, the Scorpions have crumbled under pressure. Since Smith kicked their sixth and his third in the latter part of the first quarter, there's been a 46 point turnaround.

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
