When a journo uses the phrase "to be honest" ... You just know the shite's gonna come thick & fast.

To be honest, I think you're right.

Lol. He'll probably get to Hawthorn too. If so, this league is a joke and fast becoming the EPL.

actually, the AFL has already overtaken teh EPL.

Are gold coast really just giving away all their mids?

No

What makes you say this?

Jeremy Howe + 2nd Round or Chris Dawes for Jaeger O'Meara

Not even close. GC would scoff at that.

Jeremy Howe + 2nd Round or Chris Dawes for Jaeger O'Meara

Could we ban people who post trades without stating whether it's their own ridiculous proposal, or an unsubstantiated ridiculous rumour.

would have to be Howe + pick 6 + 2nd round pick

Iside from injuries this bloke is a star. Possibly will have to give up 2 first rounders. Gold Coast wouldn't give him up

One of these threads gets bumped as a result and I almost jump out of my seat in excitement?

Don't post in a dead thread to get everyone excited with a stupid trade hypothetical...

Im just shocked it wasn't 'Spirit of Norm Smith' that did it

Agreed.

A thread dedicated to hypothetical trades is required

Of course it is a hypothetical trade, unless Todd Viney has recently created a Demonland account?

Couldn't agree more. No one gives a stuff about trade hypotheticals. Don't post unless it's news.

Haha, what? I am not a fan of coming up with scenarios, but we are all here talking shite and giving our opinion, I would barely class anything that gets posted on DL as "news". Off your high horse.

They are all hypothetical until the deal is signed.

Then at the end of the trade period we can lock it up, burn it and pretend it never existed.

Or we could open it up again and have a good old laugh.

I should mention; the reason I thought this was noteworthy was that he said Jeremy Howe to Gold Coast would be part of the deal and the clubs were just negotiating what else was required to get it done.

You couldn't comprehend? Trade scenarios are a waste of space. Didn't think that was hard.

So is 99% of the stuff we write on here. If people enjoy doing up hypotheticals, go for it. I am not overly keen on reading them, but I know many are. So stop trying to be the forum police, you start to come off like a Year 10 Hall Monitor.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
