As much as I genuinely think the competition is more even this year than last, the fact that it's Hawthorn and Sydney as the best two sides (Hawthorn's 7-4 record doesn't stop them being the best side in the comp), again, and could well be the third time in the last four years they play the GF together, is incredibly dull.

Might be for a few Dees supporters but not the legion of Hawks and Swans supporters it is fantastic.

Even they must be getting sick of the same opposition at least!

It wasn't exactly a dazzling performance by Hawthorn. The skills on the whole last night were only marginally better than our match against the Saints. There was plenty of opportunity for the Crows to take hold of the game and establish a winning margin but they basically weren't good enough.

Once Mitchell, Hodge and Burgoyne retire they will slide. Those three are still extremely influential. The worry for everyone else is that Clarko has done such a brilliant job in setting them up, the slide may not even get down to mid table.

Looks like it is not only our players that do not listen to coaches and 'play selfish':

"...suggested Dangerfield was guilty of chasing the ball and ignoring his role at the two bounces, which both led directly to Hawthorn goals that effectively ended the contest midway through the last quarter. Dangerfield spent six minutes and 20 seconds on the bench after the bounces — two minutes longer than his interchange stints in any other quarter."

Setting an example of Danger ie no one gets away with ignoring coaches!

Nonetheless, a Gutsy call by coaches to bench him for 6min & 20 sec when they were still in the game.

He is leaving and everyone knows it at Adelaide so perhaps a signal the ones staying

More stupid than gutsy I would've thought. Danger was the best player on the ground at that point. There's a time for sending a message and that wasn't it.

Walsh also threw him forward for a while, during which time the Hawks strolled out of the middle and kicked 2 or 3 unanswered goals.

So you are not a fan P-man?

Any time after this season.

Ah ok, I thought he might have meant longevity....

The old Richmond is back. Really hoping they get flogged so their woodwork fans realise they're part of nothing.

At least we know where we stand.

They are wearing probably the worst jumpers I have ever seen.

For a good cause tho...

I changed my tip to Richmond right before the bounce and almost instantly regretted it. That first quarter has been depressing viewing, indeed.

At least the meltdown will be glorious if they lose; their skills are far from top 4 standard.

Hawks last night had an interesting choice.

i think the top 4 is a top 3 this year.

A top 3 followed by daylight, indeed.

I wonder how many years before another team can cement themselves anywhere near it? Sydney will certainly never leave with their Academy gifting them the best players every year.

Dusty is having a cracking year. Super strong and wonderfully skilled. Everything you want in a footballer.

Wish we took him on when we had the chance.

Cotchin is such a soft captain, right up there with Swallow and Murphy.

Spot on, I agree. Just plays for frees.

Swallow is hard at it - but a sook. A lot of North's players are sooky... Petrie, Harvey, Swallow. It must be ingrained in their culture.
