Let's recruit Judd now

Featured Replies

Has said he doesn't want to coach.

Loves playing, but doesn't have any interest in coaching or the strategy side of the game.

Move on.

I don't want to sound uncharitable, so I'll say this as nicely as possible.

It pleases me that I'll never see him grace a footy field ever again. I'm quietly rejoicing that his career is over and I've been looking forward to this day for a long time.

I also must say that the few years he was at his peak he's the best midfielder I've seen. I love Voss, Williams, Black, etc. and rate Matthews' career as being unrivalled (as far as mids go), but for a few years Judd was without peer. I rate his best better than Ablett Junior's best, but I know many/most won't agree.

I agree he is the best midfielder in his prime, are you happy he retired after all the drama he put Melbourne and other clubs through when he came back to Victoria?

Judd has committed to life after footy starting up a company specialising in chicken wings .

will it be halal?

god help me we already have a highly paid coach, coaching staff and admin. we must have very high overheads without paying for another millionaire to join our ranks. we have absolutely no reason to go after judd. i would rather we got junior or one of our many ex-players at hawthorn.

I am with J J Clements

Judd's career as great as it was will always be tainted by the eye goughing moments for me.

If any one ever deliberately tried to injure my eyes and potentially blind me i would be seeking retribution late at night

Eye goughing is such a coward act. He knew he was doing it.

No, it will be heaveven

Well, that does it... if he had a go at Whitlam, then there's no way I would want him having anything to do with our club!!

Judd was a champ, who did what he considered to be the best thing for his family when he came home to Victoria. Not only was he a skilful and smart footballer, but equally he has set himself up for life after football. Good luck Juddy. Time to move on.

he was so likeable at the Eagles, what a player he was then. So electric.

Then he went to Carlton and everything changed. He shaved all his hair off and lost his dash., Its like he became a completely different person and player.

He did win a brownlow at Carlton - that aside - his game did change.

He started to pick up injuries late in the piece at WCE and although didnt miss huge amounts of game time - he did indeed lose that electric dash and became a more contested ball animal.

He was one of the greats - but yes, he did do some unsavoury things on the field as have others.

I dont think he has ever made noises about coaching post on field career and dont think it will happen.

Fake drama. He was never coming to us and about 0.001% chance to any club other than CFC.

It was still drama for Melbourne.

I remember the night before he revealed where he was going Brian Taylor announced at a function that he was going to Melbourne. Then of course we were told the same thing by his grandmother.

Spot on TF the whole thing was window dressing.

He was signed up to Carlton before he got on the plane east.

That process was utter BS

how little did we know

give me Hodge'y every day of the week, or Hayes'y, Selwood, even Rockliff

Heard an interview on SEN this morning with his manager Paul Connors who said, in regards to Judd's choice of club on his return to Victoria, that Melbourne were never seriously in the hunt, mainly because of our crap facilities at the Junction Oval.

Good to know that we've moved on from those days, hopefully we won't miss out on being in the running for any other prized recruits because our facilities don't stack up to the competition.

window dressing? what was his business going thru clubs books a dream? or would you call it fraud?

What was he going to do? Say "yeah, nah, I'm already locked in to Carlton and you'll never believe the dream gig they've given me .. ambassador for paper cartons or something. I dunno. It's not like I'll have to do anything."

so tell us, which other players whom have changed clubs, went to those clubs to personally have a viewing of that clubs books?

if think they looked thru ours, the pies & bummers? then probably took that info back to the blues. & where was 'If the cap Fitz' in all this, & why didn't he stop this action from taking place?

....it was public, before judas went thru those pages.

his second Brownlow was a sham, he may have been best that year but far from fairest.

his dirty elbow to Pavlic, which led to three stitches and blood pouring from the Postman's face was deemed as having insufficient force for him to be charged. was probably the most disgraceful decision by the dodgy tribunal of that year.

Judd, amazing footballer, but a dirty player who committed many cowardly acts. up their with Lethal, amazing and courageous player, but at the same time, a cowardly thug

yep! quick get the integrity squad onto it!!!

this is the problem of the leagues own doing; they're integrity is just a visy paper-mache` veneer.

Agree on the first bit, but cowardly might be a tad harsh

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
