I don't want to sound uncharitable, so I'll say this as nicely as possible.

It pleases me that I'll never see him grace a footy field ever again. I'm quietly rejoicing that his career is over and I've been looking forward to this day for a long time.

I also must say that the few years he was at his peak he's the best midfielder I've seen. I love Voss, Williams, Black, etc. and rate Matthews' career as being unrivalled (as far as mids go), but for a few years Judd was without peer. I rate his best better than Ablett Junior's best, but I know many/most won't agree.

god help me we already have a highly paid coach, coaching staff and admin. we must have very high overheads without paying for another millionaire to join our ranks. we have absolutely no reason to go after judd. i would rather we got junior or one of our many ex-players at hawthorn.

Well, that does it... if he had a go at Whitlam, then there's no way I would want him having anything to do with our club!!

Judd was a champ, who did what he considered to be the best thing for his family when he came home to Victoria. Not only was he a skilful and smart footballer, but equally he has set himself up for life after football. Good luck Juddy. Time to move on.

He did win a brownlow at Carlton - that aside - his game did change.

He started to pick up injuries late in the piece at WCE and although didnt miss huge amounts of game time - he did indeed lose that electric dash and became a more contested ball animal.

He was one of the greats - but yes, he did do some unsavoury things on the field as have others.

I dont think he has ever made noises about coaching post on field career and dont think it will happen.

Heard an interview on SEN this morning with his manager Paul Connors who said, in regards to Judd's choice of club on his return to Victoria, that Melbourne were never seriously in the hunt, mainly because of our crap facilities at the Junction Oval.

Good to know that we've moved on from those days, hopefully we won't miss out on being in the running for any other prized recruits because our facilities don't stack up to the competition.
