MFC & Casey Inside Football player ratings & comments for Round 6

Melbourne v Sydney, Round 6, MCG

7 - Tom McDonald - Super duel with Franklin. Held him goalless but both players had an impact

7 - Christian Salem - Best game so far running off half back. A few errors but impressive night

6 - Jesse Hogan - Despite poor supply continued to work hard to find the footy

6 - Daniel Cross - Tried hard and gave 100% at the contests but wasnt a big factor

5 - Jeff Garlett - A spectator in first half then came alive after main break

5 - Dom Tyson - Hasnt been able to break free this season and was well held again

5 - Nathan Jones - Wasnt able to generate his normal drive from the middle

5 - Aaron vandenBerg - Tore in and used frame to advantage but couldnt swing momentum

5 - Bernie Vince - Tried to latch onto a few different Swans with moderate success

5 - Heritier Lumumba - Battled on but wasnt able to get his typical running game going

5 - Ben Newton - Kicking was unusually off at times but at least got into the game

5 - Billy Stretch - Goalled with first kick in league footy and didnt look out of place

4 - Angus Brayshaw - Quietest game at senior level so far. Couldnt get into it

4 - Lynden Dunn - Tippett got him early with three goals but continued to fight hard

4 - Colin Garland - Rough night on a few different opponents. Lacked confidence

4 - Jeremy Howe - Just padding at the moment down back. A move forward might re-ignite him

4 - Cameron Pedersen - Backed up Spencer in ruck but wasnt much of a factor in attack

4 - Jimmy Toumpas - Got a bit of the ball but lacked incisiveness. Ability to cover ground a worry

3 - Chris Dawes - Unsighted until final term when he started to get his hands on ball

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
