They just don't lower their eyes, Jones never really has. Vince certainly doesn't.

I understand it was a slippery day, but too often when they had space they just bombed it in.

The midfield might've had reasonably good stats, but it is a day they'd rather forget IMO.

Harsh on Jones. I'm not a fan of blind faith in a player or coach but Jones has hit quite a few delicious lace out passes to leading forwards. I think he is one of our best midfielders in terms of hitting up targets... but he is guilty of bombing on occasion.

The ball is just being bombed in like a bag of [censored]. Delivery has been poor the last 4-5 weeks if not longer.

Yes.. That's because and god help me. HE CALLED FOR IT TO BE BOMBED IN ALL DAY!!!

Not once did he lead to space.. God forbid he lead more than once and double back to make space for the rest of the forward line..

Which we are told he is just "playing a role"

Today that role was to plant his fat ass in the goal square and play marks up..

I love him, but I hope he learns he has to more than just clunk marks.. You can lead up at the kicker and demand them put it infront of you!

His leads were garbage when he did lead

Compared to Robertson or even Green and of course Neitz.. He was 40 metrrs short of sn AFL standard lead

Why would he stay? Convince me.

We do have a little bit of time to get it right.

I think after yesterday Hogan is entitled to be annoyed at the midfield delivery.

Our midfield was selfish yesterday, and they really let the side down. The stats might look good, but the midfield was ineffective.

Thankfully, we have Salem and Brayshaw coming through, two guys who will lower their eyes and hit Jesse lace out.

The harsh criticism of Hogan is way off. Yes he got beaten by Hurley but no means warrant going back to Casey or that he belevies his own hype. Let's take a step back, he is 20 year old forward in his first real AFL season playing as a CHF who experts say takes 5 years to become consistent. The real problem in my opinion is he needs bloody help how about Mr C Dawes taking some contested marks or any marks and kicking some goals on the 600k pay packet he is on.

Forget about Dawes, he adds nothing. Pedersen is much more effective when in the side. This is exactly why we need another mature KPF ASAP to fill the gap and give Jesse a bit of space to breathe and learn.

What was needed was for three forwards to lead in three directions to draw the opposition and give the mids and backs some options to kick to. This is basic footy used very effectively by Norm Smith all those years ago! Edited by Kali

What has happened to Dawes? A year before he left the Pies he had a great year, kicking multiple goals and playing his role at a high level as a forward. Since then he has been a highly paid law student and a dud player. Is he focussed on his career after footy and just using MFC to support him while he does his degree? It's disappointing for us as supporters.

Not really.

He was in and out of the pies side and not always because of injury.

He wasn't ever a key forward - Cloke and Brown were ahead of him. Dawes was a 3rd forward decoy.

His best goal kicking was 30 in 2010, and 27 in 2011. Those included finals and the GF replay in 2011.

He has had a calf problem since 2011.

His effort and attitude are great.

But there isn't anything in his career that suggests he is or will come good.

For us he has been an expensive 1st or 2nd forward decoy.

Jesse will be a champ but he doesn't need a decoy he needs real help up forward.

IMO Dawes isn't that person as yesterday showed.

Would rather Pedo in than Dawes, assuming he's fit. Pedo can mark the ball, which should be a non negotiable for a key forward.

Fitzy needs to play back as well. We get shown up for lack of height and speed out of defence. As bad as his kicking is, Fitzy would've been very useful on Danners.

Hagan is a first year key forward, he's going to be up and down.

Needs real assistance and at the moment is playing as our number 1 man, asking a lot of the kid.

Pedersen is out for the season with a nasty fractured wrist that required surgery.

No, you do the leg work and tell me why he would not.

Tommy Mac, Frost and Fitzy should rectify this issue when all playing.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
