Hey Dees fans

I don't have FoxFooty at home. Where's the best place to watch the game today in Melbourne?

I know that there are loads of bars that have the footy on but don't think many of them will have the Dees/Crows game on.

Plus, it would be good to watch it around other Melbourne supporters.

Any ideas?

Where do you go to watch the game?

I went to the Leighoak last week and there was probably about 50 people there watching. I some go to the Bentleigh Club as well.

I've never understood why the club doesn't set up a function at one of these places for interstate games to get some extra revenue.

Bentleigh Club is what the MFC officially pushes in the "Game Day Information" article published each week.

Yeah.

I tried it out last week but not particularly in a rush to go back again if there's somewhere else to go.

I'll check out the Duke of Wellington and, if I really have to resort to it, I guess I'll just have to go across to the Sports Bar at the Crown Casino (don't think the atmosphere will be the best though!).

Watching at the Leighoak now. First time I've been here since I stopped playing cricket 23 years ago and it was our 'club rooms'. 3 TVs going, all on the game and about 40 hardy but vocal souls watching. Plenty of pokie players adding to the club's coffers too.

I can tell you they're not big on Watts here.

Watched the game at The Duke. About 60 or more Dees supporters, about 5-10 other people, yet they refused to put the audio for the game on, favoring some cheesy funk music instead. Was told that was by order of management. Pretty poor from a placed that advertises they show MFC games and is a sponsor. Definitely won't be back.

You didn't miss much with the audio off. I have it off voluntarily 90% of the time.

Just adds to the experience I guess. Not much atmosphere when you're watching the Dees play over wah wah guitar... Not what you expect from a venue that is trying to align itself with the MFC as the place to watch games.

Were those facts pointed out to the manager in charge, without them having the business sense to turn the sound on for you all?

That'd keep me away from watching there.

The Bentleigh Club's great. There's a projection screen (the game looks a little blurry) in an upstairs room with rows of chairs, turnout was great yesterday. There's usually at least 30-40 people (older demographic, but there's a great spirit in the room). Then again it's the only place I've gone, so I might have to check out the Duke or wherever else a similar sized group attends

The Bentleigh Club is a good place to watch the game. The crowds have swelled from as low as half a dozen in recent years to 40 to 50 as previously said. Unfortunately the MFC as always misses a great opportunity to build a supporter base. Come on now, what about some tea, coffee, and biscuits maybe so e party pies and heaven forbid a few ex players or officials come down and represent the Club.

I watched the game at the Duke too in the end.

I thought the venue was good and a decent showing of Dees fans but would have been made a lot better with the commentary turned on. I guess it was also because half TVs were showing the Carlton/Essendon game so having audio on for both games could have been a little confusing.

Fortunately, the next five games will be at the MCG so don't need to deal with this issue for a while!

Yep. Was told it was a management decision, told them we won't be back.

The thing is there's a whole separate area with the largest screen that has separate audio they could have had on.

I've worked a fair bit for the company that owns the Duke and it doesn't surprise me they don't have a clue.

That really is disappointing then. It would have been such a great venue if you could actually hear the game.

Oh, well...

I might send them an email about how disappointed I was about it considering their 'partnership' with MFC and try to add to pressure from other Dees fans.

Sorry to hear that Stuie. I've been to the Bentleigh club a couple of times. I'm told it was a lawn bowling club before MFC partnered with them, so it's not like a young persons night club, but it's fine, the staff are friendly, food is great value, and they always turn the sound on for Melbourne games.

Sports Bar at Crown is good but it's a gamble (pun intended) on which game will be on the big screen and with audio. Essendon v Carlton would have been the preference yesterday. Other games are relegated to smaller screens. They have a schedule on their website but don't list what's showing on the big screen.

Love going there though. The Parma Burger is a delight.

That is unbelievable from the "Duke" They are asponsor!!

The game is on for 3 hours.

The Audio should be pumping. I thought it was our "city" presence???

The MFC is still being marketed very poorly.
