We’ve only had 2 x 100 point victories this millennium.
Both against Carlton.

First in the naughties

Second in the teens

Get the twenties locked in.

Telling stat. Really surprised.  And we have had some talented forwards in these years. With our fwd line depleted by injuries, form and experiments, it's remarkable the 100 plus ones this year. As much as I would love a ff kicking 4 a week, it's good we have such a spread of players hitting the board.

Have we ever played Port on a Friday night?

Yes, twice.

Our first ever game against them was a Friday night. We lost at Football Park by 51.

More recently we had a Friday night in 2018, in Adelaide. We lost by 10 despite leading at three quarter time.

Fun facts

The last time carlton beat us;

Rd 22 2016 at the G.

(we have won the last 7 against them)

Barack Obama was President.

Malcolm Turnbull was Prime Minister.

The UK were still in the European Union.

Richmond were still a joke!

The Footy Show was still on air!

We've lost our last 2 last quarters since this article was published. We need to break that embarrassing record.

And Donald Trump was still just a reality TV show host!

And a billionaire obviously.

We are the current league record-holders of the lowest percentage at the end of the season since 1966 (leaving aside the disintegrating shell of Fitzroy and the start of the GWS and GC franchises), with 54.1 in our reverse-stellar year of 2013.

I note that the Eagles currently are at 51.4 and will have the job in front of them to not take this particular unwanted crown from us.

They’ll be in the 40s by years end the way they’re going.

We can but hope!😁

This is a record we have to wait for someone else to break, but we have the worst losing streak at any venue this century with 22 at Marvel stadium between 2008-2015. It's also the worst losing streak in the AFL era.

We'll be waiting a while for someone else to take the 21st century mantle, too. The contenders are Adelaide and Brisbane at Kardinia Park (13), Brisbane with 12 at the MCG, and St Kilda (11) also at Kardinia Park.

It wouldn't feel great if Brisbane were to get the mantle with losses at the G given a certain result that occurred during September last year

Forget our records. Now is the time for us to create them for other clubs

This seems a bit odd given they won their most recent game at the G prior to last week - obviously that was a final but why exclude it from the analysis?

I guess limiting the analysis to home and away results presents a better story line.

In two weeks West Coast play Brisbane at the Gabba. 186 could well fall 👌

We’ve slipped down a spot.

The sub-record to this, which I suspect we'll never lose, is our #1 position, of the above top (bottom?) 7, in 'Degree Of Mercury' in the 'bookend' years: St Kilda bookended all its 3 years with spoons; Hawthorn almost did, with a spoon and a 2nd last (to us, 3 years after a premiership...); Fitzroy did even better, spooning then 'disappearing'; GWS spooned but scrabbled up to 3rd last; and WC, well...

We, on the other hand, bookended with an albeit very modest 14th but then a spectacular Prelim and 4th.

The lions will have a training run. May even manage a few key players.  I cant see 190 & 186 points (Fitzroy)ever being passed.

Looks like we're stuck with it.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
