Hey Guys,

I was just wondering would anyone else be keen on putting some coin together and being a Player Sponsor for season 2015?

The Player would be sponsored under Demonland Forum.

Cheers

How exactly does this player sponsorship work? Do they just get a little extra coin in their pockets?

Or can you (collectively) sponsor one, say a Viney, Kent, or Spencer that seems to get into a few tussles and doesn't mind shirt fronting a bloke - get in his ear and say "keep it up, we need to see more fight" and pay their fines? ;)

I was just going to throw it out there and see how many were interested.

I will Email the club tomorrow to see how the process works, etc

I have been a player sponsor for the last 2 years. It's been a fabulous experience and a great way to get a little bit closer to the club.

I have been a part of the Demon BigFooty sponsorship of players in the past. Obviously the more punters involved the less money they each pay, but individually you get very little in return.

Leon McConville is the man you need to speak to. He does a great job of putting it all together.

We used to have a Demonland/Demonology combined group which if I remember rightly was run by Whispering_Jack and George_on_the_outer, so those guys and others involved could probably comment on whether it's worthwhile as a group thing. They had a few functions where their sponsored player turned up too I think.

Hasn't run for a few years now though.

MHBT....wishing you good luck.

Yes as Nasher has said, we did this a couple of years ago. But:

1. someone has to collect the money, having made a committment to the Club to provide support.

2. you will need to set up paypal or bank account or collect cash

3. many make promises to be a part of the scheme, but the money doesn't arrive.....who makes up the difference?

4. I don't know what the cost is today, but you are looking at somewhere between $1k and $5K depending upon level of sponsorship

5. Lower levels of sponsorship don't give you access to the player. This was not the case a couple of years ago.

best of luck

George

There are 3 levels of sponsorship which all have different entitlements.

The costs were as follows in 2014, give ot take $100:

1. $1,100

2. $2,200

3. $5,000

I have sponsored Jack Grimes with my brother in law for the last few years and I believe number 3 above is closer to $3500.00

You'd be right there. I noted that you get so much more for your buck. It's worth paying the extra coin.

have been a sponsor myself and for the better known players there is a wait list to get on , when I started i was told there was 27 people wanting to be the top level Of Jack Viney

they had to draw them out of a hat.

again what i was told , if you sponsor a player and that player leaves you then get first option on one of the new players

this might have changed as it was 2 years ago , 2015 will be my third year

as for functions only the top level get the player to visit your house or a BBQ or some function you have if they can

I was Nicho's 2nd tier sponsor. (The club actually rang me when he was delisted prior to it being released to the media.) I got told the same stuff as markc about selecting a player for 2015.

For my $2,200 I got:

2 x tickets to the season launch

2 x Bluey tickets

2 x invites to a President's Club lunch

2 x passes to after-match Sponsor's Function with players

1 x framed/signed photo of yourself with your player

1 x signed team photo

1 x MFC pin

If we sponsor a player, can one of our "functions" be a Q&A with them on Demonland? Similar to a Reddit AMA?

Edit: Maybe the people who kicked in actual cash can have first dibs at the questions?

I dunno, just spitballing.

I like the idea and am keen enough to tip in money but lazy enough to say I won't organise it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
