Jake Lever

Great video. Looks like a natural footballer who can take a good grab and moves well.

Interesting that he could/would be used as a midfielder after playing most juniors as a backman.

As long as p2 & 3 go on the best midfield talent available (and Lever fits in this) then brilliant! Get him in.

If we pick up a McCartin or Wright I would be a little bit devastated as can't be bothered in investing in talls anymore.

I think it would be widely known by clubs that Lever is the most talented kid in this draft pool.

Big call but i reckon could be a bona fide star. A cross between Nat Fyfe and Jeremy Cameron.

The double edged sword is that he could go that way or (hopefully not) end up with issues like Anthony Morabito.

Risk vs Reward, yes, but I say we go for it. Players with the full compliment of attributes don't grow on trees.

3.2 seconds for the 20m sprint at the combine is surprising. I know he did an ACL but he looks a lot faster in the highlights than 3.2 seconds. Trengove ran 2.97 in 2009.

I think most of the highlights were last year, before his knee reco?

Correct, he didn't play at all this year. Only got fit around August but didn't play any games.

Still, you'd think he'd recover a bit more speed over 10 months.

Yeah he sounds lik our usual draftees, injury prone and unlikely to fulfil his potential. Also struggle to play seniors this year. He is a shoe in

20m sprint results can be deceptive. In reality you are very rarely sprinting from a stationary start - one example of this mentioned yesterday on TR was Billy Hartung who looks quick on the field but only tested at a 3.2 sec too.

Knee injury doesn't seemed to have affected Troy Menzel.

or Dom Tyson

I'd be happy to come away with Brayshaw and Lever in the draft.

and use pick 23 on duggan

or Dom Tyson

Who did a PCL not an ACL and isn't a tall.

But yeah I don't know the relevance of 20m sprints. I mean it's such a short distance anyway, reaction time would be important and maybe he's not comfortable bursting out of the blocks.

You rarely sprint from a standing start in footy so it might all be rubbish.

Do you have his agility? If he did well in the agility after a knee reco then that's enough for me.

If we're going to draft him I hope we get Richmond's medical staff to check his knee out.

AT least send him to the people who do Richmond players Scans

Ha ahahahahahahaa Sadly you are close to the mark

Which goes to show that the 20m sprint testing can be deceptive, Trengove prior to all his injuries was never considered fast.

another high draft pick we will ruin

He must be praying the MFC don't draft him

As will every other kid projected to go in the top 3

Under New Management

I'm going to take a punt that we will take Brayshaw & Lever.

Surely it's time to move on from this line of thought.

It's getting soooo old. Did Salem, JKH and Tyson not show you anything this year?

Move on.

i think that he could be a star with a highlight package like that but if he has already lost some speed is it worth taking the punt on what could turn out to be a daniel menzel?

i kind of want the MFC to take the safer choice this time around

In order of preference:

Petracca

Brayshaw

Lever

Wright

Wouldn't be dissatisfied with any of them.

We need to get at least 1 of Petracca or Brayshaw though. Petracca is almost no chance, so Brayshaw + Lever (my preference) or Brayshaw + Wright (doesn't sound too bad either)

Is there anyone here who has seen more of Jake Lever than the short highlights clip above?

Maybe. but next years draft is supposedly stacked with midfield talent so this may be their best chance to get an elite forward prospect

Greg Clarke is going to continue growing and will be a first round lock in for next years draft. Other kids will grow over the next few months and swing into calculation. Saints will do what we should have done under Prendergast all through those years and pick the best available

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
