Collingwood fans want him to be traded to us interestingly..

Who told you that? doubt it.

Can't see why Beams is Clark 2.0. Different person, different brain, different personal circumstances.

I'm all for learning from the past, but the only thing to learn from that particular past is that Clark is a [censored]. The rest is irrelevant.

Please don't apply common sense, it gets in the way of my emotions.

The only reason would be because they'd want our pick 3 then ahha

"The Dad thing for Beams is indeed crap (to an extent). Didak is a close mate of Beams, and as I've previously mentioned some weeks ago I was told by a mate who's handling the sale of Didak's house in Hawthorn (I've done the advertising for the ppty - beautiful SF house) Beams hates Buckley and wanted out. It was stated by Didak that he'd go to another Melbourne based club or even Port. He just wanted out. Brisbane was the logical fit.

But I have to say this, if anyone equates Beams to the Clark situation and change of initial destinations, they're a true dullard who hasn't the sense to differentiate between a burqa and a habit. How one becomes the other is truly beyond me, but I know that's how simpletons think."

Beams, Brayshaw, Stretch, Lamumba, Frost, Garlett.... and trading out a couple of the "scarred" players (I trust in whoever Roos has identified) for high picks/established mids... feeling pretty good about the trade period now.

And steady improvement next year could see us land Danger as a free agent for zilch.

That makes absolutely no sense. Midfielders. We need midfielders.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love Cameron, but midfield is priority one.

Funny, who doesn't hate Bucks?

I'd struggle to even give up pick 23 for Beams

Use the higher draft picks to get in good young talent that will be at least 6-10 year players for the club.

Trade and draft for the older experienced guys on the cheap like we have been doing (Moneyball)

Last time we traded with the Pies we gave up way to much to get Dawes - I hope they don't make the same mistake again.

Classic Hannabal. Who else imparts info while slapping "dullards" & "simpletons?

Not interested in a genuine A-GRADE mid with 8 years of footy left in him? Ok.

I struggle to see how we could satisfy Collingwood when they are unwilling to take what I think is overs from Brisbane, being picks 5 and 25.

When it is reported the pies wanted pick 5, 21 & 25 I laughed.

No way in the world is Beams worth that.

And worst of all, if find it really hard supporting my team if we had that human stain on our list.

I feel sick about the prospect.

It'd make me want to stop following the club for the time he is there, and I wouldn't be able to bring myself to renew my membership.

Some people might not be the same, but I just couldn't do it on principle.

I try to be a realist, and fortunately I remain blissfully ignorant about other players I have loved in the past.

But he brings about too much distaste for mine.

It would make me wonder about the no [censored] policy. Mind you, I'm basing that on little real evidence. maybe you know more than I.

Is Beams really that bad a bloke?

Yes, he may have had some off-field issues at Collingwood, but as far as I know he's doesn't have a criminal record and has never been suspended on-field.

I'll happily offer pick 3 and 12 for Beams and 48.

I'll take an elite goal-kicking midfield to go with Jones and Tyson thanks.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at GWS to be with his best mate Shaw.

Would it be out of order to try to reunite both Beams boys at the club and bring dad to Melbourne?

I think they'd probably prefer to stay in their home town, especially if the dad is sick as reported.

Probably what any family would do in that situation.

You know what? I've heard some horrible stuff about him, but I also worry that subconsciously I just hate him because of those God awful tattoos. I don't mind a good tough sticker, but he looks horrible.

But, I try to be objective and I think I just really don't like the type of person he is.

Just me, I guess.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
