Agree, articulation is not one of Tex's strong points

went to the same elocution school as kernahan

oh god not this thread again.....

About 10,000 posts to go.

Maybe more if he goes to another club.

ha! Not only am i right with my assumptions made last October, but i am also slightly creeped out as i do own a pink selfie stick, as i got it from xmas. Which means my cover/anonymity has either been blown on here and you know me personally, or it was a lucky guess by you.

Nah, you're safe...for now...

Well Mr Shadow they do have an odd coach now so anything is possible.

A friend from Adelaide remarked to me the other day that he thought he might be their "MN"

OD it's pleasing to see that we don't own the marketplace for coaching, captaining and CEO blunders, but fortunately we've moved past that now.

Here is hoping Dangerfield is as awful a person as Frawley is.

I, for one, would welcome our new disloyal mercenary!

I would toil in underground sugar caves!

Are we better just targeting Sloane? Would come cheaper and while everyone else trips over themselves to get Dangers signature we tell Sloane he is our preference.

What would people pay and how many years? Front loading on the cards. Pies are meant to be making massive play as well.

Where the f is a club club like Coll (or Haw and the Swans in the past for that matter) getting the money in their cap to poach a player like Danger? FMD we'd have to offer him half our cap just to get him to think about it. The rich get richer...

Swans no, Hawks do have an ageing list. Young players like Hill and Langford would be on bugger all, Hale, Lake and Frawley took less to play there. Hodge veteran?? Their big money earners now would be Rough and Lewis. Pies have lost Beams, H, Daisy, Shaw plus Travis Joke is in year 3 or 4 of his overpriced contract.

Compensation picks won't last. Frawley for pick 3 is the bargain of the last 30 odd years

4+14 for Scully

Tex was asked on SEN last night when he'd speak to Dangerfield about re-signing. His response was to say that Dangerfield is just as important as the other 40 players on the list and that he'll make his decision in due course. In other words, gone.

This is all that will be talked about all year, why hasn't Danger signed!? Is he staying or going?

crows are being realistic about the shots at keeping danger. they dangled the captaincy in front of tex back in november to get him to resign and he took the bait.

Crows should've agreed to trade Danger for picks 2 and 3 (or whatever else was offered, eg, pick 3 and Toumpas) last year. No brainer for them.

Geez I'm glad we didn't give away the farm to get him last year though.

At that point they had to get his agreement RB.

He was always playing the long game IMO.

End of 2015 he can go to where he wants to be without much hassle.

Stay for 2015 and he walks to Geelong and there is nothing Adelaide can do about it.

Heh.

In a "caption this" contest, nothing else but "[censored] this place" is suitable here.

yes there is; all the Crows have to do is match Geelong’s offer, then he has to stay, and with Geelong on record stating that they will not pay overs (or even market price) to the detriment of their list, then the crows should easily be able to accomplish this. Progressing this logic further, Adelaide would then say to Patrick, your options are
• play with us, or
• play with someone we can't match i.e. Melbourne, or
• we organise a trade to get you to Geelong.
I would much rather be in Adelaide’s position than Geelong’s when it comes to P Dangerfield. Though Melbourne could as easily be in a stronger position than both.
In reality Adelaide could probably match nearly all other club offers except for something outrageous from starless/marquee (player) free teams such as Melbourne, St Kilda, Kangaroos and perhaps West Coast. Even Bulldogs, GWS and Gold Coast have players soaking up large portions of salary cup space; the crows only have Tex.
This is based on my understanding that Dangerfield will only be a RFA next year.

I don't think they will match. We are still waiting for the first club to do that... I think we will still be waiting...

In terms of team planning - it would be a massive headache to have a contract on your books designed by another club, it would be easier to take the top 10 pick and move on.

Geelong broke their own rule of capping stars at 500k a year when they resigned Harry Taylor and I wouldn't be surprised to see them do it again. Their list has changed a lot since winning 3 flags.

Agreed.

It also struck me that this Captaincy decision has the hallmarks of MN's first Captaincy decision and we all know how that worked out.

This decision has to be based on the politics of making a statement about who is showing the most loyalty not who is the best man for the job. That might be worth considering this year but next year and beyond they need best available and I highly doubt that is Tex.

More brilliant stuff from the AFL with their fiddling with the game - now as another awful side-effect of FA we have club leadership decisions being affected.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
