ET. I dare say Beams was ONLY ever going to the Lions. What slowed it down was the tenacity of the Pies in exacting what they deemed a suitable reward. Well played Filth. Got to admire them in that. Beams was never coming to us so in that sense we cant miss out on what wasn't.

I dont think Trenners was part of any Danger deal. I suspect the Crows are holding out for more but we have put a limit on the deal given the free agency situation. In all deals there is a point at which you move on and if the pieces fall into place so be it.

Just a flying it up the flagpole case here really but what I see the club wanting is an absolute gun of a midfielder and the chance at maybe a decent pick at the draft but around where they think a Lever type might go.

The picks etc are just a means to an end. If we accomplish our goal..we've done ok.its for others to possibly continue the narrative over this or that.

The goal of trade week is to better you list and /or position in draft if thats your direction. Its not our direction I feel . Ours is to get more ready to go now types to impact the team starting round 1 2015.

All will be revealed in the coming days without doubt.

Leaving everything to the last possible second seems a rather bizarre trade strategy. What benefit does it achieve except allowing everything to fall through at the last minute and leave you with no time to trade players (gives no time for medicals/facilities tours/consultation with footy departments) or time to formulate a backup plan?

I just fear the pick 12/Trengove fiasco has completely buggered up some apparent master plan, and left us with no leverage to do anything. It's also given other clubs ample time to muscle in on any territory we were gaining, potentially undermining any trades we had in the works. Case in point: Bulldogs now making a play for Frost.

I'd feel a lot better if we at least had Lamumba and Frost secured. Colonwood are [censored] everyone around, us most of all with the difficult Clark situation, which has seen North start moving in on Lamumba. And now Bulldogs are muscling in on Frost because they have a surplus of late picks to offer the Giants, while we have nothing left at the top end of the draft.

Almost wonder if this is just sabotage from Colonwood to ruin our entire draft strategy.

Exactly, this sudden "we'll just take those picks to the draft" reeks of "oops, everything fell apart." In which case you have to ask, what the hell were we thinking put all our eggs in one basket? You can't honestly tell me there weren't genuinely good fringe players at Sydney or Hawthorn looking for more opportunities, or players at Adelaide/Freo/West Coast/Brisbane/GWS desperate to come back to Victoria, that we could easily have swayed over with the lure of Roos/$$$?

Have never wanted to be proven wrong so badly in my life, but...
