Dave Mission Experiment

Our players continually strike me as physically underdeveloped. Not the kids, but players like Grimes, Howe, Garland, Watts, even Frawley just look to me to be smaller in the chest and arms than their contemporaries.

A lot of that pre-dated Misson though. We didn't have adequate training systems in place for a long, long time.

As for Misson, our running fitness seems to be up on the last few years (fewer games where we just disappear after half time; in fact, third quarters are now our best) and our soft tissue injuries are probably as good as any other side in the competition, so those are good signs.

I think one of the biggest problems is we lack a team of "men". Generally our most consistent players are "men" like Jones, Vince, Dunn, and Cross. The younger Tyson is an exception.

Every premiership side is full of "men" with the odd one, two or three young guns.

While our list is as young and as small as it is we will struggle to run out an entire season. All I hope for is that the club opts not to rebuild through the draft, if so be ready to wait another 5-6 years.

Overall I think Mission has done alright, I think it's a bit hard to question him based on the circumstances and list to deal with.

My only knock is the freedom of diets between the players, some normal (and carb load before games which I'm all for), some Paleo (lack of carbs or carb loading before games which I'm against) and some vegetarian (which I don't mind per say, however those vegetarians like Grimes need to bulk up and put a lot more mass on whilst trying to figure out how to without downing a steak).

How many changes have occured over the three years he has been listed, let alone just this year. Lots of the players fitness is much better than it has ever been and will continue to improve.

It's just the fact that we make ourselves run a lot more than necessary due to turning it over so much.

This is correct.

Since Misson arrived we have replaced 2 thirds of the list, roughly 1 3rd per preseason.

So 1 third of the list from missons first year is now at that level - so I think that is guys like jones, dunn, jetta… anyway you get the point.

Not many ofd our current playing klist were here when misson gave that prediction.

Exactly. Bit hard for Misson to develop guys on a 3 year plan when 15 of them are thrown in the bin once a year.

This year will be no different.

I look forward to the year where we have 3 or 4 list changes, and players are banging down the door to join us.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
