There are no pps anymore? Why the [censored] is it still a considred a policy? Why is this Evans bloke telling Robbo and not the whole AFL community?

I still think the Red and Blue jumper is the curse element dc.

Get rid of it and the curse is lifted.

maybe it's time then to bring in an exorcist od?

we've tried everything else

because the afl's mo is all about leaking and playing favourites

it's called "good governance"

Could hardly make us worse dc

It may be embarrassing asking for hand-outs however it will soon be forgotten if we start winning some bloody games!!!

Sorry Mac7 that is a concept I am struggling with.

That's a pretty enormous 'if' in current state.

Speaking of curses...I know this is kind of irrelevant to the thread... but have you guys noticed that a lot of people who have been affiliated with Melbourne has either gone really sick or passed away. For example, Neale Daniher got diagnosed with a incurable disease today I believe. Jim Stynes sadly passed away. Dean Baily sadly passed away. I obviously don't believe in curses, but I've just noticed a pattern which seems to be exclusive to us.

This simply means I'll be copping a lot more crap at work tomorrow.

Thanks a lot, MFC.

It is the red and blue jumper get rid of it and all will change.

Sorry could not resist.

Yes staggering I agree.

Sean Wight was another who sadly passed away far too early - it is a terrible run of coincidences.

Meth Coast won Premierships with a team of body builders, Carltank paid Judd under the table and used to hand players bags of cash, Sydney has been given their own bloody academy and a higher salary cap, Collingwood received favorable draws year after year, GWS still receive special picks, Gold Coast had the same deal plus the greatest player of his generation and Essendon have their own pharmaceutical division. Time for some pragmatism. I'll take the priority pick without a shadow of regret this year and, if need be, the year after that.

End of 1st round pick which has to be traded would be the go.

Bring in someone that can make an impact straight away like Vince.

Send it to Hawthorn for one of those half backs like Suckling or Duryea that can kick the thing.

Evans can make a recommendation but it's the Commissions decision.

Is Ron Evans on that commission? Every decision he made miraculously aided his catering company and was passed on to us by way of overpriced, shite hotdogs.

"AFL football operations manager Mark Evans would not debate hypotheticals, but indicated a special assistance selection, if awarded, would not fall in the first round."

Don't think it'll be pick 1, a small chance of a pick following where we finish so pick 3, and more likely a second round pick (IF WE EVEN GET ONE!!)

I wish Mark Evans would stop working from Eddie's script! The top teams are laughing, they all originally built their list from bottoming out in uncompromised drafts with one year of poor play, getting priority picks, or third round father son picks, etc. The expansion clubs and three years of compromised drafts plus Free Agency has locked in their superior positions. I am talking the Hawks, Pies, Cats of course and these are the hypocrites who now rail against any concessions to the strugglers and Eddie is their megaphone.

Talking on the couch saying that Peter Jackson should go to Paul Roos and say you can't trade these early picks unless say pick 3 went for two top 20 picks

basically said we need to flood the club with good young talent and focus heavily on development, time for a traditional rebuild with some decent people in charge

Unfortunately the commission are drones who swallow whatever AFL management serves up to them. We saw that under Andrew Dimwit often enough.

Great how many more years is that gonna take?

I've been waiting 8 years and we are still pathetically woeful, or is it woefully pathetic.

I hope the answer is NO !! The sooner we start to not rely on handouts is the time this footy club takes responsibility and finds out the way to success is smart coaching, insightful picks when its our turn and a decision, if you are a player to do what others won't do to be successful and to work your ring of to achieve it, whatever it cost!!

By the way what handouts have we had, leaving aside anything that has been deserved, such as equalisation funding for pathetic draws.

We should get a PP after 1st round pick - no question about. Hawks set up an era with a PP and some good drafting. The magpies in 2005 thanks to a PP got 2 very good mids and later a premiership. The Saints almost got there with a PP and other good drafting. Geelong got there on the back of father sons - and other good drafting. Swans (although Academy helps), Freo just good drafting in general.

Basically assistance of some sort is a common thread for most top teams.

So why not the Dees??????

If you look at the top teams and look back through the drafts you can see they all had at least 2 drafts where everything turned to gold which set them up going forward!!!! A little luck needed as well.

I met this bloke called Steve Dank in the pub and he said he could help us.

It's going to take time, but I think it's the only way to be honest, the only players i'd look to trade for are guys like Tom Mitchell and Dylan Shiel

i'd 100% be taking Petracca with pick 2 though, that should be an absolute lock imo

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
