"Denham & Lace says free agent Malceski might go to Dees. Sure his mail is great. But it would affect the compo pick for Frawley. He's 29"

More Greg Denham rubbish or something in it? Thoughts are Malceski's body has taken a battering over the years and at 29 would only want to get him if Chip stays and we don't dilute Chip compo pick. If true - Roos must think he'll add a lot to the culture and leadership of the team - like Cross.

Not for mine. How many ACL's? 3? How many Lars? 2?

Latest Lars has held up for a couple of seasons. At 29, next knee injury will be the end.

Would be madness.

I understand the logic behind it (experienced, culture, work ethic etc) but we have to be careful not to become a dumping ground for older players on their way out.

Playing great footy, has a couple of years left

Trade for a fourth rounder so it doesn't effect compo

It would have to be better than what the Swans would get as their own compo for them to agree to that.

Only depending on the Frawley outcome IMO. If Frawley stays then Malceski comes basically at no cost to us other than salaries we have to pay anyway. The upside of having a skillful runner of half back far outweighs the risk for mine. We need this type of player more than just about anything else.

It does become complicated if Frawley goes and we're trying to weigh off compensation though.

I reckon their compo would be around that Mark, he is only going to get 2 years max and not huge dollars

Big, big fan.

We're crying for precise delivery off HBF and who better?

All posters have sat in the stands and watched our forwards lead up, only to see the ball fly over their heads.

If doable, I say yes!

If they can still play and fill a need I couldn't care less how old they are

Daniel Cross has been massive for us

Malceski would be too

Agree with this. Our on field problems stem from a shocking lack of professionalism and leadership. We need a few more blokes like this showing the way its done at training and preparation for game day before we can move forwards on the field.

Still, im not certain we want to lose our priority pick we get for Chip for him. Have to trust Roos, Stone n co on the decision making here.

I have no doubt they will be into several other Swans players feeling the salary cap squeeze up there, and there plenty that would be great gets for us.

Malceski is a great player, there's no doubt about that but this would be a massive risk for us to take.

Left Field is right - he's too old to undergo further surgery if he blows his knee again, so if we were to consider picking him up I'd be hoping an extremely thorough medical examination would be on the cards, to ensure his knee hasn't begun to deteriorate again.

One of my absolute favourites.

We complain about our ball use from half back. Here is a player who basically wins games with his drive from half back.

Would gladly have him for a couple of years!

On way out..

Malceski is probably the starting HBF in the All-Australian team, and the best running defender in the best team in the comp.

The position is our biggest deficiency and I think if we're able to keep Frawley and pick up Nick it will go HUGE areas into making us a good team next year.

That he does, but you seem to be conveniently ignoring his injury concerns...

When was the last time he was injured? It seems as though he has gotten through the last few seasons with little trouble, but I could be wrong.

2011 he had his third, knee reconstruction (LARS).

He's been fine since but at 29, I'd want to be totally sure that he was 100% fit before signing him. At that age his body will only become more injury prone with each season.

He's played every game, average more possessions and dream teams points than he has in more than 5 years.

Django obviously knows more about Malceski's injuries than he does himself.

Excuse you Ethan, but where have I said that?

What I am saying (I'll make it clear for you, simpleton) is that we should exercise caution when potentially recruiting a player of his age and with his injury history. I love the way he plays and I'd love him at Melbourne, if there are no concerns on his body.

You would assume the club would do their due diligence before signing him, but this is his third year in row injury free. If we got him for the right price then I can't see any reason why a rational Melbourne fan would say no to his signing.

Appreciate the simpleton call.

You stay classy Django, well hidden behind that screen.

The difference is I wouldn't call someone a simpleton. It must make you feel much more of man to do so though.

I for one would be happy if we picked up an experienced player like Malceski.

I actually do apologise for the simpleton comment, it was uncalled for. I have seen you post similar comments to other posters though and your sometimes condescending tone really gets to me.

Believe it or not, we share the same sentiment RE Malceski, as I said I just hope full caution is exercised.

And fair enough, I didn't realise the extent of his previous injuries, I knew of 2 LARS and that was it.

Even one year would be fantastic, in fact 18 games would still be worth something of they were quality. Am happy to pay for his Voltaren

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
