Knowing our luck Sylvia will have a field day against us

Would be great to 'trial' a few up in Darwin and leave some key players on ice for Geelong the week after. We all know we don't back up well from the Darwin games and I think the Cats are more gettable. Maybe keep McDonald out, bring in Michie for Viney, georgiou in for Terlich, may as well rest Jamar and let Gawn and Pederson get smashed by Sandilands. Wouldn't hurt to put Tapscott in to 'take care' of Ballantyne.

Source???

Won't reveal my source, but the same one that gave me info on Barry debut last week before it was announced.

Certainly not worth flying anyone who is "marginally fit" or carrying a significant soft tissue injury up to Darwin. That is NOT tanking by the way - player injury management.

Cats are gettable? Surely you jest?

I've watched a few Cats games this year and yes, I think they are more gettable than the Dockers.

Frawley making it tough for Hawkins, Jetta on Motlop, Vince on Selwood. If we can guide them to the flank and pocket and restrict their run through the middle it's game on.

Although it would require us playing a whole 4 quarters of football. Not the 2 or 3 we have seen lately.

Yeah, that last line.

We simply can not, in these next three weeks, allow 40 minutes where the other team are the only ones interested in attacking the game.

You go into your shells against the best teams and they will bury you.

I am not surprised the players have gone into their shells early against Essendon and the Bulldogs - they have spent 2 years in their shells against all teams.

I am pleasantly surprised that they have come out of their shells while the punishment is occurring.

It's progress.

White knuckled, frustrating progress...

Bit disappointing.

30 touches and 8 tackles not enough to dislodge some of the riff-raff from Sunday's game.

Needs to back it up.

although casey got pumped, it was good to see tapscott had some positive feedback and pushing for selection. I really want him to have a solid crack at getting himself back in to the seniors. if theres a suitable sub i wouldn't mind seeing him getting a run.

perhaps replacing terlich if he's out.

blease was apparently quite bad on the weekend, poor disposel for most of 4 quarters

Georgiou to back line Howe to forward pocket

Don't think possessions are the measure. Michie had similar numbers against Box Hill and got nowhere. JKH has had 2 ordinary games before Willy so probably looking for consistency.

Out: M jones, bail, Terlich, nicho.

In: any but those four.

I have never been a fan Bail. He has pace but no footy nous. Of the other 3 M Jones & Terlich VFL - Nicholson back to VAFA - he can't kick no footy nous lacks endeavour.

Georgiou to back line Howe to forward pocket

I was a little worried about Howes form early in the year and last year he was providing cameos but not much more. He now seems to be finding the football and involved in the play much more and besides a few dodgy disposals and decisions he has been valuable down back. I would leave him there.

The only thing I would have tried is late last week - throw him for the last 10 minutes to the forward line to stand on someones head. (ie take a mark)

Some players never play well at VFL but do at AFL. I'd have him in for his X factor. We don't take the game on.

If he gets a game, subbed off last week.

Can confirm TMac is up in Darwin and a good chance to play.

I have family staying in the same hotel, and have received pictorial evidence.

Heres hoping!

yeh, I guess he will need a run at some time before the years up… work out if we keep him or not

Most players who never play well at VFL, never do at AFL level either.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
