Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What is wrong at Casey?

12 Demons played against a Willy side that had not one AFL-list player.

If you include Troy Davis, a very reliable defender last year, we had 13 players who should be very prominent and confident.

We lost by 80 points.

I know some of you are blaming the standard of the Casey lads this year and some of you just reckon our fringe Melbourne players are crap.

But you don't lose that badly without something not being right.

Quite obviously Rowan Welsh has lost them and I suspect Brett Allison's highly critical player reviews would be losing some as well.

You don't bag players in public as Allison has been doing.

Some may also be questioning how Dom Barry, with just nine disposals (eight in Allison's review) and two tackles gets great praise for a game in which he quelled the influence of Sam Iles, who is so good, he is not on a list anymore!

That is not to say I'm not pleased that Dom will get a chance to see if he can lift at a higher level, but there would be 10 guys in that side who would have felt aggrieved at his promotion ahead of them.

Here's my remedy.

1) Give Brett Allison the next month off doing reviews - he's about as positive as Mark Neeld.

2) Get Jade Rawlings in to take over from Welshy for the rest of the season - the players all respect Rawlings. He will clearly give them Roosy's gameplan and the players will have confidence that he has Roosy's ear when it comes to selection.

3) If we are not broke, lure a couple of in-form players from country or amo's on a three or four-game trial basis with the aim of having a look at them to see if they might be up to AFL rookie list level next season.

Allison was at North for years, has plenty of experience, is trusted by Roosy and is highly regarded.

Then again, Mark Neeld was also highly regarded.

You're right about Welsh, he gave them a serve publicly a few weeks back, and whilst he wasn't wrong, it's time to go.

The problem for Casey is that they can't find anyone else. They lost Lovett who was terrific, Gotch and German before that.

If I'm wrong, correct me, but isn't one of Casey's main issues a lack of money that has driven some of the better VFL players away?

Also, I agree on Dom Barry. I reckon Roosy is trying to stamp his papers one way or another before the end of the year, but then what about the other blokes.

Blease has been getting 30 touches regularly but only ever gets bagged out by Allison for his one way running with not enough praise coming his way in turn.

Either you play the bloke or you put him out of his misery.

Roosy is a great coach, but he hasn't been at any club but Sydney for over 15 years and this is still a teething process.

Most of our reserve players are crap, but I don't think they are being given the chance to shine at what is clearly a negative environment.

In general you are way off track but this comment in particular adds nothing to the debate. If the players are reading stuff put out for members they should know better and if they don't get more critical comment at the match reviews then they should.

The relationship with Casey seems to have stalled and maybe the fault is on both sides. The club (MFC) need to put in to make it work or if it is unworkable then pull out.

Only the club will know whether the relationship is positive or not, we are only going on the scoreboard which whilst it isn't good may not tell the true story.

Casye's biggest issue is poor management. The pokies debacle a few years ago gutted them and they show no sign of recovering from what I can see. They have consistently lost their best players, a couple to AFL sides but more to other VFL teams with better prospects. They have been forced to put together a team of kids and discards because every decent player has walked out on them. Add to that the fact that most of these guys hadn't played together before this year and it's a recipe for disaster, which is exactly what this season has become.

The VFL /AFL combo doesn't work.

You can't have 2 separate managers to have the say in how they want the club run.

Caseys admin is a basket case.

Time for the Dees to pull the pin and go it alone.

The inept performances of the Casey boys is bringing our boys down and creating bad habits.

Roos & PJ can't let this go on.

Big Changes must happen next year.

For the MFC players, it is not about the result, but the next contest, and your own individual performance and playing your role.

It's all about preparing for the next level and who cares what the result is.

For the Casey players, they just aren't even close to good enough.

In the end, Welsh is on a hiding to nothing.

I think he has probably given up and will leave at year's end, whether Casey are keen to keep him or not.

It seems to work at Hawthorn........A few years ago the Casey players were always in the named best players.....they were winning and played finals

Some bad admin has cost the club money and players

Now the MFC players are the most experienced and they are just kids themselves playing along side more kids from the TAC and other minor comps

It's no wonder they are getting smashed

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
