I think he'll stay.

WTF. Nasher, are you saying you think Frawley will stay at MFC?

Heavens...be the biggest stare down of all time...

So when is compensation confirmed?

AFL will announce we got pick 3 about two minutes after James Hird is sacked on Monday

If Frawley goes, I am gunna guess a mid-round one pick = pick 10. Pick 3 too good; end of round one pick not enough (very close to dogs compo for higgins).

Pick 10 sounds about right.

Pennant, you're a breath of fresh air.

Frawley is just another who doesn't have the capacity to spark genuine growth and change at the club and it really was amazing how many posters not so long ago thought he'd be more valuable to our club if he'd decided to stay rather than what we'd recieve if he left.

The fact he was even in the leadership group again suggests our club is still very much in a transitional phase. Really I see the only reason he was in there was because of his games played experience and the fact that he'd been on our list for many years and was a kpp. Not really based on anything of substance. Rather, he just fell into the 'club' because he's been there so many years.

I say it again. Him leaving will be one of the contributing factors to our clubs change of face in the coming years.

Am glad he's gone. Bring on pick 3.

It's not part of the formula or the rules that we or anyone would get a mid round pick but as we know they are made up on the run so anything is possible.

I do think it will and should be pick 3 though.

From trade-radio:

CONFIRMED: While we wait for the father-son bidding to begin, the Hawks have confirmed they have signed James Frawley.

Frawley, 26, joins as an unrestricted free agent in a major coup for the premiers, who lost star forward Lance Franklin as a restricted free agent at the end of last season.

Cya mate...

"He is a team-orientated person who has got great character and excellent values."

Only if your team is in a premiership window it seems.

I am sad.
Yet again, a senior player has decided after 8 or so seasons that we aren't worth the bother of trying to turn around.
I know we will get compensated handsomely but a bunch of blokes who should have been 1 club players (Beamer, Col, Riv and now Chip) will finish their careers elsewhere like Stan Alves and Greg Wells to get the success they could never get at our club. That being said, this will probably only apply to Riv and Chip as Col is probably not going to get a game in Freo's firsts and Beamer lasted a season and a half at Brisbane.
I don't feel bitterness towards Chip but I feel sad at what our club has become and that we have yet to have our 'Travis Boak' moment

I read that too.

Had a laugh.

Should have read:

'He is substance-less, a self-centered person of bland character and non-existent values who is chasing individual success and glory'.

A senior leader of a football club crossing to a two-time premiership opposition side with the hope to win a flag in a team of players you don't know says a lot about that individual.

As Riewoldt has previously said, it just wouldn't be or feel the same.

All I hope is that we win a flag while this air head is still running around for the hawks.

That'd indeed be the cherry.

I have to wonder if Frawley has really thought this through. He says he wants a flag, but he's gone to a team that looks to be nearing the end of its window. They are still being carried by the 30+ brigade amd while the youth look good, they don't look ro be in the same league. Can they really win another one with this list?

Talk on trade radio that we may not be getting pick 3. Ill spew if we dont.

I hope they don't! It would be fantastic if they started declining quite rapidly while chip watches us rise and become top 4 in 2 years!

I think the Hawks can win next year again, Lake Mitchell and Hodge are in the last couple of years of their careers, but I don't see the same drop off in quality that I see at Geelong with the Hawks list. But even still I can't see the Hawks missing finals in the next 4-5 years.

Is that based on anything other than the numpties commenting on whether we 'deserve it' or not?

Pretty much. But would we be surprised if we get bent over.

The article on the official website says we're expected to get pick 3. They've been buttering up fans for weeks now that we'd get it to prevent any outrage.

People are now fairly used to the idea. PJ and Roos have played it perfectly.

Close this thread. He's gone and I'd prefer to forget he never existed.
