If I recall, one incident was assaulting 15 year olds? I could be wrong, but I think I read that he assaulted a 15 year old at a servo or milk bar.

Anyway, there is no excuse for it, Jurrah probably picks his places and victims, because I couldn't see Jurrah lasting in a populated area.

I used to live in a country town where guys would pick their marks - but they'd never venture into the big smoke, because they couldn't act like that.

The main point to me was the loss of a young man's dream and how things have fallen off for him. I will still remember his skills and only hope that he uses them as a catalyst to improve his situation. If he does that he will have achieved more than being an afl Footballer.

I really think many appreciate how difficult it was for Liam to get as far as he did and that was a credit to the people from "Collingwood Industrial Magpies who got him the opportunity.

Wharever his issues were, they existed before he was an AFL footballer and, likely, will exist for a long, long time afterwards. Sad, but the man is ultimately the only one responsible for his choices and actions.

Too true, however you do what you got to do if you are being attacked - doesnt matter what theyve got between the thighs. My mates an ambo and he always says by far the worst physical abuse they cop is from drunk women. They dont get a free hit just because theyre female. I am so sick of hearing about physical violence against innocents, regardless of who the perpetrators are

I don't quite understand why the angst against Jake Niall. I didn't interpret what he wrote as saying that Melbourne deliberately let Jurrah down. To me it was more suggesting it was symptomatic of a club in turmoil - which it was, both on and off the field - which meant issues such as off field pastoral support for the players didn't get the attention necessary. Some players need more help than others and for very different reasons. I doubt Chris Dawes or Luke Ball need much help - but Colin Sylvia and Dustin Martin do. Melbourne was struggling just to keep the club going. More importantly, though, irrespective of the question, Jurrah seems intent on recognising the fault is entirely his and that's a good start for his rehabilitation.

And even if I'm wrong and Jake Niall has over-whipped the cream with respect to the role of the MFC, the more important issues in his article - such as Jurrah's family members also being in gaol with him - should be the true focus of our attention.

Particularly disappointing was the suggestion that none of the current playing group took the time to visit him. They may not have had the time, but Jurrah will forever be a Melbourne Football Club player and I'd like to think his positive contribution to the club during the lost years of 2007-13 won't be forgotten.

RTG have you been over here recently? There are plenty of hipsters, Ned Kelly look alikes, women riding retro bikes decorated with flowers and as for artists, not too many sculptures, just taggers with spray cans and the occasional poet and oh too many pretentious South of the Yarra types visiting Gertrude Street for lunch when I am there anyway.
