The GW$ Debacle...

Featured Replies

Some may say it is an early call. But i am really angry that this farce was given the all clear whilst Victorian Clubs are on life support due to the private ownership of Docklands Stadium.

GW$ will have an extra $mill in their salary cap going forward. At who's expense??

The whole GW$ thing can only be about tax relief and putting even more dollars in Ruperts endless pockets....

Does anyone think having GW$ in the comp is a good idea?

I can't see it. They could really implode this year.

Jack has 5 with 15 left in the 2nd.

He could go missing now or kick 10 - 12.

With GWS' defense, probably at our expense again if you get what I mean

Jack with 7 - 7 minutes into the second.

Only 1 behind in the Coleman race!

The train ride did him good!! :)

It doesn't matter how much coin and assistance you have. When you start your young All Australian CHF down back ya gonna lose.

Should have 10 by half time.

GWS look VERY ordinary.

GC were a lot better at this stage.

One would think if Richmond could get to 100 points at half time - that they could hit 200 points today.

I can't see the giants being able to keep talent, jacksh, sheil, treloar, Patton, orourke , plowman and more will all come back to vic imo

It's quite the indictment that GWS look this much worse than the Tigers. What a debacle.

Can they beat any other team this year?

Can't believe we lost to this mob they are terrible, the sook will kick 10 before half time

Saints have looked this bad in patches

GC will be the only one of these two expansion clubs that show any success, if you ask me.

The ace up their sleeve is their location. Any sane player wanting to choose between the two would prefer to go to GC. GWS will have massive player retention problems, they're showing absolutely no sign of cohesive improvement year after year.

Apart from a smattering of Richmond supporters there's barely a man and his dog there. No one is interested in GWS.

Love the fact the commentators have a hard on over richmonds attacking style. Yeah they tried that last week too. Who won last week?

Quick, get Roosy in Dom's ear to start sending out texts to his former teammates! :)

Did I hear a loud cheer from the crowd when Scully was knocked over?

We lost to them because we hadn't found ourselves as a side yet.

We'd beat them by 100+ easy now.

Did I hear a loud cheer from the crowd when Scully was knocked over?

Yep... Cotchin just give him a touch up too.

At least from Scully's perspective he'll have enough cash to cover that pathetic "wrestle." (Are players still fined for wrestling?)

Tiges go from 6.18 to 14.2 in consecutive weeks.

lol @ Richmond players prancing around like they are any good

Too bad we arent playing them next week to put them back in their place again

They are absolute hacks playing against a team that is literally not even trying

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
