HERE HERE, if new posters and new members to the forum are affected or reluctant to post due to US idiots who spend too much time on here, than i pity them, for we have no idea what we are talking about and are strange members of society.wf4qJAD.gif

Just had a look through this thread. Did Stuie put you up to this Sambo? And then you recruited Autocol? Surely you couldn't have come up with such stupidity one your own?

It must be a joke - surely.

Anyway if you are fair dinkum having a crack at me, then I feel appropriately chastened and truly regretful. After all that soggy lettuce leaf attack really stung!

BTW Sambo could you please enlighten me about "the good old days" since you joined this august board on 25/7/13.

Just a little whack BBO. Does it matter when I joined this board? I have been reading this Forum for many a year. I don't need anyone's help mate. I just enjoy an intelligent debate, but some of your comments are decidedly disrespectful. Just sayin'! Don't take it personally.

I haven't seen you contributing much to any debate, intelligent or otherwise. So who are you to point the finger? You talk about the "good old days" when you've joined July last year and made a whopping 109 posts, and NOT expect to be ridiculed? A bit naive there Sambo. Just sayin. Don't take it personally

If you've been reading the forum for years, why did you only decide to join last year when the "good old days" were over? That story doesn't stack up.

Demonland isn't perfect, I've pointed out my frustrations with the moderation of it. But I tire of peanuts whose only contribution is to talk about how crap Demonland is. There's a very simple solution that satisfies everyone: don't visit.

Demonland is beautiful one day, perfect the next.

So I'm thinking Salem will be the super-sub again this week.

You know, because this IS a thread about Christian Salem.

Just thought I'd throw in a comment about him.

i hope he gets a full game, would rather have byrnes as the sub

lol... The good old "what if"... Haven't heard that here before...

Yes, they are as ubiquitous as content-less, irrelevant posts...

Oh no!!! The Pman to the defence. So you enjoy posts about buggery do you Bud? Shows the obvious intelligence of you and your mate. Only joined in July? Please, excuse my whopping 109 posts. I'm so sorry I don't spend my life on here verbally jousting with very "intelligent" people like you and BBO. I thought this was a footy forum where we can come to discuss "Footy" not buggery and all other inane unintelligible crap a handful of young tossers carry on with. I'd even rather hear about Watts than some of the tripe you and your mates carry on with.

Some of rubbish on here should be expressed on a Dating Service chat line for people like you guys who are of all persuasions.

Leave the Footy Chat and go elsewhere Bud.

Just sayin'. Don't take it personally.

bbo will be thrilled to be described as a "young [censored]" even though it is only half correct

I'm glad one joke about buggery managed to raise your ire to such extreme levels. A sensitive subject perhaps.

The point about your join date and history is that you are in no place to be pining for the "good old days" when you never contributed to them.

How about this Salem kid? Boy oh boy wowee!

I hope that by the end of tomorrow night's game, we are quoting Jack Dyer in relation to Salem: "He made a great debut last week and an even better one today."

I must say I'm in semi agreement with Sambo and Autocol.

While there is always a place for a gag, when you get pages full of unfunny rubbish on a Christian Salem thread it becomes unreadable and makes the site less of what was intended and turns it more into something else.

This is the last post I will make on this subject.

In all the time I've been on Demonland, which is maybe a few years, threads have turned to banter. Some of it, perhaps even alot of it, not that funny. It happens frequently and irrespective of the topic. The owner(s) chose to take a somewhat loose approach to moderation. It's their site, thus it is their decision.

It annoyed me initially, but I've come to accept that it is part and parcel with Demonland. If you want to enjoy the excellent insights of posters on here such as rpfc, AxisofBob, the master, stevejordan, and yes, even saty, you have to accept that there is another side to the site that is essentially talking crap.

If you can't balance the two, then there is no gun to your head to come here. Either you can or you can't. If you can't, your complaining about it just adds to the very problem that you are complaining about.

We're an odd bunch. We support Melbourne ffs. Of course we're an odd bunch. I don't think we need to sterilise the place too much in the name of talking footy.

I apologise for going off track again in a thread dedicated to a very exciting young prospect at the Dees, but that's my take on it and I'll leave it there.

Ironic that there are probably more posts on here criticising comments for being off topic and calling for more moderation for those who post off topic when they are doing the same (as am I here).

Footy seems more and more about roles and patterns, running patterns (defensive and offensive), with different roles needing to adhere to different patterns in order for the team to gel and win. I suspect that the key to developing a young player like Salem is to teach them their pattern, make sure the can demonstrate their knowledge and discipline in their applying their pattern relentlessly, under pressure, with skill in the Reserves, and if they do they are ready..

Christian Salem seems bright, dedicated and hard working in addition to being talented, he's learnt his patterns and is ready.

If the coaching team can keep developing layers to do this we'll continue to gel and improve as a team.

The subject was raised, we can start a thread if you like. The greatest irony is that the ones who get their noses so out of joint with some of these valid points are the ones who purport to be about free speech.

It's an opinion, and one that is shared by others, many of whom don't post here regularly because of it. I have been around for a long time, the place has changed. Paul is right, there is still good stuff here, but it isn't as frequent and easy to find as it used to be....and some very good contributors are now absent or very infrequent.

I think people who post need to take it upon themselves to consider the relevance of what they post. No-one wants to see humour disappear, but pages upon of carp by the same individuals over and over designed only to amuse only themselves is not what I believe this site is about.

The PM facility is available.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
