GAME DAY - ROUND 2

Featured Replies

We've been okay outside of the first 10 minutes. At least we look like we can get the ball forward.... we just have no targets...

We haven't ben able to control the ball at all. Even when given possession for a kick out we are just bombing and turning it over.

This is going to be ugly. Hopefully we can rebound next week against GWS. If we can't beat GWS then we're [censored]. We've already lost to St Kilda and they're now 2 wins ahead of us. Need to catch GWS or spoon suddenly comes into the equation.

I think the spoon is already in the equation we are $1.70 favorites next is saints at $4.90

I never thought we'd win the spoon this year. I didn't expect finals, but definitely didn't think we'd be spooners. It's really sad that other clubs can turn it around really quickly, and here we are 8 years later with the highest paid coach in the land and we're staring down the barrel of another wooden spoon.

Why didn't I see this, that is money for jam.

Nathan Jones is having a shocker. Skills poor today and has given away about 4 free kicks already!

Dom Tyson is my favorite player already. He is always amongst it and appears to actually care if he loses a contest. Good onya kid!

Is Howe injured/sore? He looks sluggish.

We had a real crack there for 10 minutes and they get a goal.

Flood Gates?

Howe is average at best.

hmmm theres the cricket... and 2015.....lol

I hate to say this but did Georgiou just [censored] himself when he saw Natinui coming at him?

Yeah Howe looks shocking this year. He's like a completely different player.

Our midfield is getting slaughtered. Forget about the lack of forward line, we need to get our hands on the ball at the stoppages and start asserting ourselves around the ground!

Spencer is a liability.

No one would argue that, the problem is we don't have anyone else to play at the moment.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
