We seem to now celebrate players that have a crack when it should be the norm. Then, I suppose it's not the norm, which is why we celebrate it. So I get it. But I'll be shocked if he's a regular under Roos in 2014. He's a complete liability. There's no place in the game for a player that turns the ball over nearly every time he touches it. Zero hurt factor. He's not even vanilla, but beige.

There's a reason we've had the worst midfield in 100 years. Players like McKenzie, who has a celebrated game when he beats Ablett and we still lose easily, is the poster boy for ineptitude.

Melbourne supporters are so dumbed down they have no clue as to acceptable standards. Pretty sad really.

I agree that in the recent past he has been poor with ball in hand, but he does have more ability than he is given credit for.

He's a long straight raking kick when he can get it to his boot, and there was a time under Bailey when he provided some creative handball.

There is more potential there than you are willing to acknowledge.

Thanks 'Machsy', that's what I would say about Jordie. I think his last couple of years haven't been his best but he has shown in the past he has a lot to offer. Like many the Neeld era hasn't been good to him, even if he got the coaches award.

No, we just disagree. McKenzie has NO impact on games of footy. Actually scrap that. He impacts them badly.

I don't agree. He's had a disappointing two years but finished the season very strongly. He has poor traits, but for god's sake he's one of few players who actually knows how to beat an opponent, and our only midfielder who can. At least he can tag someone out of the game and be a decent inside midfielder. I think he was played out of position for a while but really showed something at the end of the season. I don't get the hate, he's not gonna be able to run and carry the ball and hit someone on the lead but he knows how to play a role

looks like we have 2 types of posters on this thread.

Level headed supporters that understand jordies qualities and faults,

then theres posters that are being stupid - suggesting he has nothing.

Obviously he has something to bring to the table. Roos will determine whether it gets him game time next season or not. until then lets wait and see.

Often with haters they don't stick with the facts and make up stuff, eg player x always turn it over everytime, or player y ducks his head every time he goes back with the ball in a marking contest, or player z always floats his kicks, this is a real fact jordie's tackle rate has dropped in the last two seasons, this must change for him to be a better player, that is the best way for him to impact games.

According to Champion Data his disposal efficiency was over 70% this season. That's better than 75% of the team.

Roos won't put McKenzie in the back-line, so two spots are already taken. He won't put him at half-forward, so another goes. That leaves 3 left.

Add Tyson, Cross, Bernie Vince and Michie. Who knows about Toumpas ? Matt Jones ? McKenzie wasn't fighting Sylvia for a spot, so maybe there's another bench spot with Blease and Fitzpatrick not making it. So let's say there's still 5 remaining. Tyson, Cross, Vince, Michie, Toumpas, Matt Jones, Evans and McKenzie.

Either way it's very touch and go if McKenzie is in a best 22. I'll be staggered if he is.

Absolutely right. It's ridiculous to concentrate on the best 22, when injury, illness, suspension and match-up requirements mean that you will always be drawing from at least 26, more likely 28. Dismissing some of those players as "depth" may feel good when you type it, but it's a little out of kilter with the actual way a team has to be managed.

I was there in the thread when he threw an obvious round-arm strike to the head of an opponent in the days leading up to Round 1.

I knew it was only a matter of time before the MRP would review the incident and give him a spell on the sidelines.
