AFL Draft, Trade, Free Agency, List and General News

Shane Savage has announced that he has chosen Carlton as his club of preference to be traded to. It's understood pick 28 that the blues acquired for the Shaun Hampson trade will get the deal done.
Don't know how reliable but not surprised really.

so ??

Michie most likely will go for a 3rd rounder. Savage will probably need something a bit better and As previously suggested Id happily hand over the Sylvia pick. After all youre then only effectively swapping Col for Shane.!! Wish we could have done that a few seasons ago

If we stop thinking in terms of picks's valued being what everyone else suggests they are and look to the trading purely from a needs basis and deal accordingly we can be a very effective player. In reality picks are only what you want them to be.

Michie, Savage, Cross...all getable . Sewell would be serious icing, not impossible !!

My thoughts here are governed by the idea that this EOS other than maximising the value of pick 2 our real and prioity need is to bolster the miidfield. Its not a requirement ( absolute) to bolster further more our stocks of kids. We have years to do that and we still have some banked.

Lets use this year to somehow forge something that resembles a AFL team.Do that first, refine and finesse it later

We still need to add minimum 3 kids to the list (or upgrade rookies).

We don't have many rookie candidates beyond Clisby, and I'd rather not be using pick 76 in what is a terminally shallow draft.

It's about balance, and I think we have to be careful.

We can't find room for Cross, Sewell, Michie, Savage, Myers, Shiel and Bugg.

Not without delisting more players, and I'm not sure who's left that is OOC.

Highly unlikely to get all of Cross, Sewell, Michie, Savage, Myers, Shiel and Bugg.

Rage.... Missed opportunity

Its only a missed opportunity if we were actually in the hunt in the first place.

No one is going to nominate Melbourne as their preferred club.

What ever happenned to players not getting a choice in where they were offloaded to.

Seem like the players have all the power these days.

Bring back the meat market.

Has chosen carlton as his club of choice

This makes no sense to me. Carlton also have a strong midfield and he won't be much better off than at Hawks, particularly as they have just picked up Daisy

If Shane was a KPP then the Blues would be a good destination for him. It is also difficult to see them taking the next step to GF participation

He could end up at a middle of the road club getting limited game time.

Im wondering how much would pivot on the Scums ability to offload others though

Yes, thankyou, I am aware of that.

Still, we don't want to be trading away all of our early picks.

We'd still like a half-decent opportunity for an influx of worthwhile talent, since some still have to come in.

Cross is a freebie.

I can only imagine the $ has played a key part in his decision if this is true.

Doesn't make sense to me but then again I'm not in the know....

Even that makes no sense as Scum are unloading big time as they have salary cap headaches already. I can't see how they can offer overs to Savage !! if that was the thinking

Facebook rumours belong in the rumour mill... Don't post 'gospel' from any of the facebook groups, they are run by no names...

Give us a quote, then we can say he wants to go to the blues...

yep, nothng about SS on the main media sources

We can offer 22 assuming we get it as compo for Sylvia.

Better than 28 from the Blues.

Still frustrating that we're not a good destination though.

He's not a free agent, he doesn't get to nominate a club to go to. If we offer better to the Hawks than pick 28, they are 100% within their rights to deal with us. He's expressed a preference, but nobody is in any way bound to listen to him.

They're in the process of screwing over Brisbane to get Longer and have happily mentioned in the media that they are Longer's nominated club. It would probably be in their interests to get Savage to his nominated club.

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
