I still remain optimistic about receiving a PP.

Waiting to announce it just before and on the same day as the Brownlow is just far too convenient of an opportunity that will help mitigate the senseless commentary on it.

    I'm struggling to understand how we couldn't be given anything at all, given our record.

    The AFL paint themselves into a very dangerous corner, given how poor our record has been. It sets a very very low bar for future applicants.

    I suppose such things only matter those trying to maintain a record of consistency and fairness.

    Many will get upset and in many respects understandably as we've been treated shabbily , yet again , by the often hypocritical if no inconsistent vagaries of the AFL.

    The first thing to note is we arent dealing with anything remotely like an even playing field here. There is no justice, no recourse to review or appeal; it's summary.

    Well, best we all get over it and on to the job at hand.

    What we now need to be is a ruthless, unsympathetic, take no prisoners type of club and dispatch all comers and bastards without a moments compassion.

    They want us to play hard ball....let lets get cracking.

    Although I would have enjoyed hearing other clubs complain, I am not overly upset about this.

    The AFL have come to our aid in how they dealt with us over the tanking saga and with the financial help out. I think we do have enough talent on our list already and we have Roos here to have a decent crack at developing that talent correctly.

    Our future success didn't depend on a PP this year.

    Seriously you are angry at the AFL because they wouldnt give us something else. We didnt deserve a pick. Im glad we didnt get one. If this was carlton essendon collingwood or richmond we would all be saying dont give them one.

    We have had so many 1st round picks over the years and stuffed them up big time because we didnt have the right people to develop them. Its our fault. The AFL have helped us out by giving us Peter Jackson and Paul Roos. Other clubs have managed to develop players.

    Port was in the same position than us maybe worse last year and they didnt go running to the AFL for a pick. Dont blame the AFL blame our past coaches and recruiting staff

    OK, it's now official that the AFL Commission have conceded their independence, and given-in to the pressure from the other 17 clubs and the media nuff nuffs. But let's not forget that the benchmark for qualifying for a priority pick has now been set. In future, a club has to be an absolute basket case for a decade or more to qualify under the principles that the AFL have just established. Pack of weak ..........

    I would've thought is having it's be preferable.

    Anyway, maybe there'll be a revisiting of our case again after 2014, as raised by another poster (Tony Tea?).

    If we win 4 games next year, maybe they'll have us one, in a "super draft" no less.

    I won't hold my breath.

    We move on.

    So we are a basket case, an embarrassment to the AFL and following the exact foot steps of Fitzroy...

    Yet the AFL has decided our list is talented enough to not receive one.

    Is it just me, or ever since we appointed Roos (from all of PJ's hard work) the AFL think we are right as rain now?

      Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

      The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day.
