When Do We Find Out About the Priority Pick?

So when you say "Priority Pick News," what you really mean is "I don't know anything, so I thought I'd make a thread about it."

other people can post news on the thread.

We won't get a priority pick.
If we do it will be end of first round. 0% chance we will get Pick 1.

There is too much negative press about us getting a priority pick, and the AFL is already giving us millions of dollars due to our incompetence. We've already had more first round picks and priority picks than any other club except the expansion teams.

People are kidding themselves if they think we'll be getting one.

We have been given Roos on a silver platter because of the state of our club.

Things will change without a PP and I'm happy we won't receive one. We should pay for our pathetic actions.

And we aren't paying now for our actions? How much more self flagellation do you want? Me I have had a gut full this year, no AFL team has ever trawled lower depths of ineptitude than we did this year. I'll take any help we can get.

I'm starting to think we might actually get one. Why? We haven't heard anything public out of the MFC about the PP since the Roos announcement press conference. If Jackson and Roos thought it was in trouble they would have gone public. They haven't. I think they know how this one is going to turn out.

I don't get the argument that says because we haven't done well with past early picks we shouldn't get any help. It's not the fans fault that we've been a basket case, why punish us. We have changed administration and coach, surely the new management should not be disadvantaged by past incompetence. Based on performance over past 2 years we should get a PP. If not us this year why even have it as an option for the AFL.

Not sure I can agree due to Andrew Dimwits public and very poorly worded response about 17 other clubs saying no, even though Redleg has pointed out that he actually said something less categoric. What is he up to? He is part of the Commission that will consider our application. Is he lobbying the rest of the Commission? He would know the secret formula and that we surely qualify but it is still a discretionary decision by the Commission and so the decision can be influenced.

If the AFL is comfortable that we will on-trade the PP for an experienced player from another club (ie, assist us in the immediate midfield rebuild), and somehow a deal is also done which enables GWS to secure Boyd, we might be a sneaky chance to get the PP.

Otherwise I reckon the better view is that we won't be getting one.

They've given us loads of money which has landed is Paul Roos.

They've given is Peter Jackson who is sorting this mess of a club out off field.

We can now walk on our own two feet thanks to the AFL.

Lets start building the list on our own now.

it was part of the deal presented to roos to get him over the line. We are getting an extra pick but it will not be pick one. Sounding like it will be end of 1st round at this stage

I agree with this, it is looking like the best possible scenario.

Can I also say, you are one attractive person Munga.

Only you and my mother have ever told me that, Django. Touched.

On a serious note, rereading my last post sounded like i had a source. I dont - it is only my opinion on where i think things stand at this stage.

I agree with you as this is also my opinion. I don't think the AFL will be game enough to give us a top of round one selection as too many clubs will get rowdy and complain about it. An end of round one makes sense as it will replace Essendon's selection anyway and therefore clubs are much less likely to be up in arms about it. I'd welcome any kind of priority pick myself.

Why do GWS want Boyd? They look like their FF might be named 'All-Australian'!

The AFL has already got their media to answer the question for us, it's died down now.

We won't be receiving a priority pick.

could you post a link?

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
