Locking down Jesse Hogan

Featured Replies

Might as well have a chat with Gaff, Shuey and S Selwood while he's here.

very good, not too mention talk to scotty burns. & maybe even a quick chat to Rossy L ?

You really think he hasn't spoken to Chip yet?

Do you think they are posting all their moves in the media??

Look at the comment it was in response to...

Don't know who I have more of a man crush on. Go Roosy boy!

I can picture the press conference with Hogan, Frawley, Watts and Sylvia all announcing their contract extensions at the same time. Roos will talk about stability, culture and the long term view the club is taking and the consistency the succession plan will have in the careers of all young Melbourne players. It will be good vibes all round and carefully orchestrated in the lead in to trade week as we attempt to attract the likes of Swallow, Adams and co to join the club.

Well that's how I'd do it anyway . . .

He certainly seems to be hitting the ground running. It would be a huge boost to morale if he could give us a five-year deal with Hogan. Good for the successor as well.

man.. Hoges is 18 and hasn't played a game and is dead set the biggest asset at the club.. hard to think of anyone ever who has had so much of a buzz at his stage

cannot wait until season 2014

I can think of a couple. O'Meara and Martin for instance.

Yes that is exactly where Hogan sits, potential but has not played a game yet. Not sure I agree with this hype. Not sure too many coaches would be flying over the continent to see a player we already have signed, who is going nowhere for 2 years and who is yet to play a senior game. I reckon if I was Roos I have a lot on and I will catch up with Jesse face to face when he is back training. Happy to check in by phone or Skype in the meantime. But then I am old school.

as if, Martin wasn't even considered top pick at the same stage and O'Meara just like every no.1 before him.. this is different,, KPP who has shown heaps at VFL as a 17 year old, pretty much unprecedented

Can you divide your love between three?

Jackson, Roos and Hogan

Has he started chasing up Pedersen?............ Isn't his contract up in a couple years?

I doubt that's all he's heading over there for. Would be amazed if he didn't have a chat with scott burns and might have a chat with scott selwood as well.

I think he means jack martin not dustin martin

Hopefully Paul Roos Galvanizes this group like Steve Waugh did when he became the captain of the Australian cricket team!! Would love 16 straight haha!

I'm moving a new Demonland by-law that prohibits posters from taking the [censored] out of a player whose name you spell incorrectly.

Yes good point there may be some rich pickings in WA for coaches and perhaps some WAFL or WC players. I should never doubt Roosey.

Fixed.

So basically no one can take the [censored] out of Trengove, Moloney or McDonald?

No. Priorities, we have to sign Nicholson first.

only been coach for a fortnight? Seriously, time must move really slowly for the author of that article.

Hang on...if he's saying it's been longer than it really has been, then doesn't that mean time moves faster for the author of that article?

I'd much rather see Chip get an extension than Hogan at this point in time.

I was thinking that the 4 days has stretched to 2 weeks for him thus feels slow?

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
