My Heart Beats True - 2014 Membership Campaign Launched

Given the 7 lean years we've had 33,725 is a miracle and testiment to the patience of the MFC fans.

Agree PaulRB. I am astounded we are over 30K.

35+ now seems within reach

Beat the Dogs at the G on Sat Night and Tigers on Sat the week after and we will nudge 40k.

Add Beat the Crows on the weekend and then a chance rpfc

Not a chance, regardless of the results.

We've only got one more home game between now and QB, which I think is about the cut-off date for membership tally.

Ticked that box.

Two more to tick? Fingers crossed.

Do we have limited game memberships like other clubs do? We should sell 1-game memberships for Queens Birthday providing a reserved seat with other MFC supporters as many people may come down from country/interstate for the weekend/game and it is the only one they get to for the year.

Grapeviney, you're right - not many home games remaining translates to fewer sign-ups, despite the improved outlook. I believe the club has anticipated this and is offering an extra inducement to renewing members. Saty would have the details.

And of course, three-game memberships are readily available.

They are selling a thousand $60 3-game memberships right now with a $100 New Balance voucher... There are still 300 left. The details are on the website.

They are trying to pad the numbers in the month before the cut off.

If the Dogs and Tigers fall we will get 40k members.

Could you or anyone else attach the link for this? I can only find the $90 memberships and I was thinking of buying my girlfriend a membership for the sake of it :)

I got it in the mail IIRC.

Or they emailed it. I'm really sorry I can't find the deal.

The front page of the website has the New Balance deal - but it might be for the $90.

Not to forget the 70% discount up to $200 spent for existing members from New Balance.

Wunders,

There is a $59.00 "Armchair Membership" with no access to games or a 3 game membership which costs $90. If still available the $100 New Balance Voucher comes with either of these memberships. If you call the Club today (Tuesday) on 1300 336 667 you might still be able to get the Voucher. There is only a limited number left and the offer finishes on the 10 May.

Hope this helps.

Just when it was beginning to slow down - I expect that to go up by a thousand if we beat the doggies

I feel the JV decision has drained some supporters (not just MFC supporters) enthusiasm.

I'd say the opposite will be true, with true supporters signing up their dogs, cats and amorous thoughts.

I reckon the Club's decision to appeal might have the opposite effect.

I just re-signed up my two girls, despite their total lack of interest... :)

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
