Maybe you can take the full back from Perth out of Perth but you can take the Perth out of him.

He was a forward. FWIW.

If we did that we would have a challenge every three years.

Others would be more aware of the constitution but I expect that there will be a simple ratification of the board at the coming AGM. It's not democratic but democracy doesn't work when it comes to footy clubs.

The AFL would know what a good board looks like more than the rank and file members of the Demons.

there is only a vote of there are more candidates than positions. If there are vacant positions on the board the board has power to co-opt members for the current term, who then need to be ratified at the next agm. If there are no other candidates they go through without a vote.

A stable board tends not to have more candidates, as it indicates someone is rocking the boat. A handover from one board to another without a vote means it had been handled well in that the are no parties who think they would do such a better job they need to create a challenge for positions.

To be honest Ron, I don't want to get into p***ing contests about who and who doesn't love the club. IF (capitals intentional) he pulls us out of this mess, he can go back to supporting whoever he bloody likes!

This. I don't care who is president, coach, CEO etc. I just want us to not be [censored] anymore. It has gone on far too long and a club with a stronger culture would have done something after 1-2 seasons at most.

Im not calling for it , im well aware Bartlett is a club supporter, i m saying that to eliminate candicates automatically because they werent origianlly club supporters is an outdated notion. you get the best available. they dont have to be REde and Blue. their own self respect and determination to take on a challenge and do a job correctly is what is needed. If it wasnt then why dont we go get Neil Mitchell or Mike Sheahan?? Because they are not the best available. Yes its a club but it needs to be treated with the seriousness of a corporation because thats what pro sport is all about now. The era of the Old boys club has passed but unfortunately the MFC didnt see it coming.

To set the record straight, im actually very happy with this appointment but when i read Satyriconhomes thoughts from a bygone era it illustrated exactly the mentality that has stifled this club. Bartlett is a supporter but if he wasnt his credentials are still impressive. From now on MFC, we chase the best, not the best Demon.

Why are you quoting my supposed thoughts, hoping nobody noticed you are trying to squirm out of the corner you painted yourself into

I do not live in the past by the way, what mentality, Old Boys Club.........you another one of the latent paranoicas are you, or just a reader of the Socialist news..............................Glen Bartlett in his speech said exactly what everybody, including the posters on this board, wanted to hear, you notice about half way through, he said it is not that bad, as if to correct himself, not believing some of the negativity he was portraying.........I for one will wait to see action....heard too many words in the past................

lost the last few minutes of the presentation but liked what I saw

Very professional approach outlining personal and club situation in a concise manner. Good introduction

'Footy first' "Respect" "Ruthless"

Pity about the mention to that days game with the knowledge of what happened, but maybe next time Melb can be the goliath

Hope the players get to view this presentation so they understand what they must do to make this more than just words

And of course the coaching issue must be the most vital to reinforce all his comments

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
