Melbourne's next president will be Glen Bartlett. Will have strong support of club and AFL. Respected lawyer/businessman from WA.

Glen Bartlett (born 10 June 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and East Perth in the West Australian Football League (WAFL).

Bartlett was used most as a key forward at East Perth. He joined West Coast for their inaugural VFL season in 1987 and won their 'Best Clubman' award after playing four games for the year. Despite this he was delisted and returned to East Perth with whom he kicked 69 goals in the 1990 WAFL season to win the Bernie Naylor Medal. He received another chance to play in the VFL when he was recruited by the Brisbane Bears but he did not move from Perth. A trade was considered with Melbourne Football Club for a full forward however Melbourne went for ALan Jackovich instead. Bartlett spent 4 years as Captain of East Perth before retiring after achieving life membership at the age of 26. Bartlett represented his state in an interstate match against South Australia in 1990, kicking three goals from full-forward in the first half. Bartlett retired to concentrate on his law studies becoming a lawyer in 1996, a partner in the workplace relations team of Clayton Utz in 2000 founding the Perth practice. In 2008 Bartlett moved to Melbourne and was appointed Managing Partner of Clayton Utz Melbourne in late 2010.

I had no idea he played AFL. Bolded part was interesting. :)

Good luck Glen. Played 4 games with West Coast. Like the 4 games Brian Cook played for us and now successful CEO at Geelong. Perhaps a good omen. No more old boys baggage.

Is it official yet?

Nothing on the MFC web site!

I don't mean to be rude, but are we basing this on nothing other than Jay Clark?

I'd be hesitant to accept this as fact without some other, more trustworthy source, confirming things.

If it's true, however, it's a great get for the club, IMO.

Would be extremely awkward if you're all emailing him and he hasn't actually been appointed

Maybe PJ will announce it on the couch?

Maybe PJ will announce it on the couch?

nows theres a logic to that ....

a little smoke clears ^_^

If this is true then I'm reasonably happy. As I said before he isn't exactly a radical but I'm glad we have a bloke in charge who has spent time outside the MFC bubble. He doesn't have any baggage from previous MFC bun fights does he? (please correct me if I'm wrong)

If he's half as good as the other President Bartlet I'll be happy.

I hope not, he was pure fiction.

If true welcome aboard Glen and good luck!!

Finally we have a PRez

Now does anyone know anything about him?

You'd rather a young and vibrant 48 year old president who gets along with the AFL as opposed to an old fart 70 year old politician who's just there for an ego boost, I would've thought.

as Jethro would suggest....."you'd think !! "

He spoke well at the lunch on Saturday.

Certainly had a steely resolve about him which I found pleasantly surprising.

If the rumour is true, I am pretty happy.

What a repulsive and childish post.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
