WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS

Featured Replies

Not exactly first dibs, we'd have equal dibs with the Dogs. Player to choose one or either. Or neither if he'd fancy his chances in the draft.

Its stupid if he did play 100 games for us and then retired, that Bulldogs would get a chance at his son.

I was foolish

Nice try BH, but my views on the payers and how they will go in 2014 have nothing to do with the shocking calls you made with respect to their performance in 2013.

Dawes to kick 40-50 goals in 2013 - kicks 12, averages 1.0 goals/game

Pedersen to be even better than Dawes - averages 0.5 goals/game

Pedersen to play 22 games in 2013 - plays 10 games

"Love the Bloke" - "Neeld's a disaster"

The wins will come in 2013 - Wins: 2 Losses: 20

Hmmmm. I'm sensing a pattern here....

On Neeld:

Love the bloke. The wins will start to come in 2013.

In the lead-up to round 1:

Neeld is smart. He'd already be thinking along my lines.

***Hmmmm, the bandwagon seems to have changed direction. I may have backed the wrong horse here. I know, I'll just be really nasty and haughty***

He's a crackpot.

The guy is a whackjob.

...whackjob...

Neeld's attempt at spinning acceptance is bought buy some, but not many.

...disastrous Neeld appointment...

...there should be chapters in sports books on Neeld's time at Melbourne so sporting organisations learn what not do...

...we poorer for him walking through the front door.

I can't credit the Nutjob for any player development whatsoever.

The Neeld years are the worst in living memory.

nutjob Neeld.

As for Neeld ? I've said enough, I've seen enough and I've heard enough of his maniacal comments. Not to mention the pathetic spin and shifting arguments. Nuff said.

...everyone knows it's the fault of our pathetic coach.

This guy is one sick puppy. But smart enough to delude some on here.

...classic Mark Nerd.

You guys deserve Nerd.

The essence of coaching is improving the players at your disposal as individuals and improving the team as a collective. Nerd fails miserably on both counts.

I put it to you that Neeld will stand alongside Murray Weideman and Royce Hart as the worst coaches in my lifetime. Apologies to Dennis Jones.

...you seem to massively underestimate the disaster that is Mark Neeld.

Early on I thought Mark Neeld was little more than a spin doctor and border-line crackpot.

...he was a total crackpot out of his depth.

I think you'll find that the disaster that was Mark Neeld won't be washed away overnight.

...Neeld was the nail in the coffin.

...diabolical Neeld era...

...Neeld was one of the great coaching disasters...

Neeld was a borderline sociopath.

...nutjob...

On Pedersen:

I believe that Pedersen will prove to be an even better player than Dawes...

...Pedersen will play 22 games next year...

There will be a lot of eggs on faces in 12 months time when people see what Pedersen can do.

I think most supporters underrate how effective Pedersen's role will be.

I reckon Pedersen will be considered a fantastic addition by season's end.

I reckon Pedersen could be one of the trades of the year.

***Hmmmm, the tide of majority opinion seems to have gone out on this bloke. I know, I'll just be cruel and imperious***

Pedersen is also a complete piker.

The guy is a shirker. He'll have some OK games, but unless he gets that part of his make up out of his game he's as useful as a cold pie. Unless, of course, you're happy being a bottom 4 club ad infinitum.

Pedersen is soft. A depth player.

I know he's ordinary.

Pedersen is a spud.

Pedersen was a dud first time I saw him "live".

On Schwab:

Ben-Hur circa 2007~June 2013:

***Passionate defense of Cameron Schwab***

***Hmmmm, I seem to have been the last to read the writing on the wall here. Even I can't continue to defend this guy. I know, I'll just continue to be my usual arrogant self and kick him now he's down***

Schwab's fault was that he gorged himself on his own bathwater. And when he wasn't drinking his own bathwater he was watching training. Whenever I dropped in he was there. I used to think "don't you have anything better to do ? Like running the club ?". No, he was so full of himself he had to have a tribe of people reporting to him.

Yes, it's been said many times that it wasn't all Neeld's fault, it was Schwab's poor chains of command, Connolly, the blatant tanking, the handling of Junior and other senior players, the weak list management for years, a sleepy Board, etc.

Schwab was king of the "mission statements".

I hate mission statements.

I didn't talk about Admin, because everyone knows they've been a monumental disaster. Everyone knows that Schwab was an autocrat that meddled and had no idea of the right chains of command.

We know the Board has failed miserably and we know Schwab is just as guilty.

Schwab, Connolly, a tired Board and Nerd have collectively ruined the club. It's certainly not all Nerd's fault.

With the help of Schwab and Connolly, as well as a Board that fell asleep at the wheel, Nerd has contributed to the ruination of the club.

Loudly trumpet the views of the majority and then loudly and nastily mock those views when majority opinion changes.

It's typical schoolyard bully stuff.

It could be forgiven in someone who doesn't take himself so seriously.

HSOG...thorough if nothing else.

We can change our minds

Obsessive more like it!

BH might like to think he's never wrong, but I don't think anyone else believes that.

Maybe Hazy would like to continue his mancrush via PM?

Personally I CGAF.

HSOG...thorough if nothing else.

We can change our minds

Yes, agreed... but a little humility never goes astray.

I just re-read that thread, which was something of a mistake.

Aside from it being abysmal at times, what I did note was that you weren't at all 'shouted down'. People disagreed with you, just like you disagreed with them. There was a major p!ssing match between some trolling fools, but take those out and it essentially was you asking people why they were happy to put faith in Neeld, and them telling you why they believed it was fair at the time to have faith in Neeld.

FWIW, you'd do well to remove your own pompousness (e.g. continually cherry picking moments in the past where you said something that later proved correct, or someone else said something that later proved wrong). You may well be a more rational and open-minded poster than some, but your attitude to proving it is just as bad as those you get upset with.

You're right in that that thread is pretty civil compared to many but even on the very first page there are comments from that thread that, coming from me, would almost certainly result in a ban:

"It means someones finally getting serious about a job that reuires hard decisions and a steel nerve. Something many of you obviously lack !! ya whinging bastards"

"Im sick of the whinging stupidity that comes on here at times. There are some who obviously have the brain power of a 5 yo on green cordial and then there seem to be a lot who obviously couldnt run a [censored] up in a brewery yet challenge those that actually know how to do it. I wonder sometimes is it out of jealously, pure ignorance, or some relative of the tall poppy syndrome."

You've been around here for long enough to remember how I was loudly mocked for years for being a lone voice of dissent with respect to the performance of our club's Board and Admin.

Ben-Hur, then known as "Hannabal" deserves special recognition for the nastiness of his often personal attacks during that time.

He's a bully that can dish it but can't take it. I feel no shame in pointing out that his continued arrogance and mockery of others is absurd in the context of his embarrassing track record.

There is a world of difference between being a bully and calling a bully to account.

Haze i dont know if you have anything better to do in life but that was quite funny.

HSOG...thorough if nothing else.

We can change our minds

That's fine when you're not an arrogant, nasty cheerleader.

Those italicised quotes in my reply to titan_uranus are from you by the way.

Oh, do me! Do me!!

thats just weird

Every single poster on here would have a pile of [censored] calls that you could dig up.

On Neeld, he came in on the back of the Bailey disaster, we didn't think we could get any lower. He said all the right things and had a hard edge that most thought we needed, it wasn't only us forum goons that bought it, he got the damn job somehow.

Lol @ the effort Hazy went to. BH's retort will take 30 seconds out of his day and will probably be more entertaining.

So ...youre applying for the king of the dung heap title I take it then

You have the brain power of a 5 yo on green cordial.

funniest thing ive read here.

you win...youre king

No you see HSOG is under the illusion BH would care

soooo children, how about Daniel Cross? Good pickup.

like the 1 year, with a chance of 2 based on form.

whos Daniel Cross ? and why are we here

I thought this was a Dan Cross thread but realised i must have accidentally clicked on the "insult other D'landers" thread.

That happens to me quite often actually.

ok...this Cross bloke...( not some bloke who's cross  )

I cant see how he wont benefit the group. A bit of Moneyball leadership take 2 ( the wizened year )

I think he really has the heart to play on, body? well we'll see I guess :)

Experienced nuts like Cross and Vince can only better our midfield. Suddenly the Stool has three older legs to stand on ( here I'll include Jones, as hes now quite experienced ) Around this the likes of Viney, Toumpas and Michie can and will I feel prosper . Bit like staking young sapplings.

I dont think Roos and co are expecting miracles, just good honest returns and in a reliable way, week in week out. thats something to build on and arrange game style on.

I doubt that there would be too many on here who actually give a [censored] how or what you think.

As was previously said, pm your fight.

I'm hoping for 2, because if he gets a year or two more, it will mean he's doing the job they recruited him for.

There is a world of difference between being a bully and calling a bully to account.

Indeed I have been around long enough to know that B-H is no more prescient in his observations than anyone else. We all get things wrong. B-H's two main differences are his stubbornness and his sense of entitlement. Combined, they lead to the chain of comments you posted above.

As I said before, you happen to be correct and rational in a lot of your posting. I'm not sure I agree with your final sentence, but regardless, you didn't need to dredge up those old posts to prove your point against B-H. We all know it. He's also not the only one (Range Rover's stance on Neeld, and subsequent posting, took an identical course).

I quite enjoy your views on football (e.g. the thread you linked to), but I don't like having to listen to you complain when people don't agree with you, or when people change their mind. Maybe not on this board, maybe never, but I'll bet you've changed your mind on something at some point. No need to harp on about it.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
