Nicholson and DUnn are absolute garbage

We look really poorly setup today. Too much crowding and not enough running without the ball. Not only is there no one in the forward line to kick to, there's no one more than 10m goal side of the ball anytime we have it.

Hoping to see some more accountability, both defensively in sticking with a man, and offensively in running and shepherding for the ball carrier.

Otherwise, this is going to get very very ugly.

Disapointing end to the quarter....thought its been a fair effort so far.

Toumpas, Cant kick, cant mark, cant run, How was he number 4? huh. Couch should be ahead of him by a mile. The recruiting people all need to be gone.

Can't listen to negative flogs like you!

I though Toumpas had good disposal?

It was a great kick - just straight to Sydney.

The effort and endeavour has been good. Happy with our rucks around the ground although smashed in the hit outs.

A lot to like even though we are 6 goals down.

So many silly statements in one post, don't know where to start....

It's hard to think how the AFL can justify giving these flogs near 1 million extra in the cap. It's such a rort.

Just speaking the truth. That's why we are on the bottom end of the ladder.

If it's a "cost of living" expense, then surely the cap should be different for every team? For example, houses in Geelong are far cheaper than RIchmond, renting in Port Adelaide would be a darn side cheaper than Fremantle etc etc...

Bottom line is, our midfield is giving us nothing today. I won't pick on Jones, but he isn't giving us much today. We can't get near it between the arcs. Lucky they can't kick straight or it would be a massive blow out.

I'm happy that we haven't given up like we would have under Neeld, but a team can't win or even be mildly competitive when their midfield won't give them first use of the footy. Ever.

We have the worst midfield in the comp and the worst I've seen in my time supporting the club. It's unworkable.

Fair point but is it his fault? Look at what was heading up the club over the last 1/2 years: nothing but negative football. I have seen more improvement in this team over the last three weeks than the last 18 months. Six weeks ago we would be 10 goals down at this time.

Toumpas is the reason we're on the bottom of the ladder? Far out, can we make it you have to get a license to post on Demonland?

Watching the game, loving the body work, those swans will have a few bruises, terlich all heart, watts getting to the contests, Frawley looking committed, some great defensive efforts, jones having his usual dip, I can watch when I feel like we're trying. Umpires just plain rude. Toumpas is learning, give the kid a break was a shocking kick but back him in he started finding the ball. Fitzpatrick is showing heart and the umpire has no soul not giving him a HTB for that chase

Engage brain, please.

BP, gone. Harrington, gone.

Couch ahead of Toumpas? Bwahhhhahhhhahhh!

How about some positives - we can't expect much more at this stage - at least the effort and attempted movement is OK.

IMO the biggest problem is moving Watts to the backline - players have looked up and seen nothing to go to - that should never be allowed to happen.

Dear Craig bird and Luke Parker.

I will pay for your removalist fee for you both to come down and join the demon revolution next season.

Yours sincerely,

Generation dee.

28 fwd 50s to 9.

Floodgates??

We already hold the season-low number of 25 (against Freo). In '148' we had 28 FFS.

Lucky to be as close as we are. Very lucky.

The way Watts talks about Nathan Jones just furthers popular opinion that Jones should've been captain.

Personally, I think Nath Jones p*ssed on Mark Neeld's breakfast one morning, this is yet to be confirmed, but it's the only logical explanation.

Still raw and clumsy, but it's amazing what a number of consecutive games can do for Fitzy's confidence. Having a real crack. good on him. But that 45deg kicking at goal is plain ridiculous.

He might have better success aiming for a pocket?

There are some strong positives coming from this game and the last couple of weeks.

Lack polish under pressure and we need another 3 Nathan Jones in close to match thier inside work. Having said that Rodan was strong in the first but tired in the 2nd.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
