If he leaves next year he will get us a top 5 pick, so no need to trade him now on that risk.

And we will pay him a wage that will be near to te best 6 at other clubs because we all have to pay at least 95% of the cap.

Again, don't be scared of FA. Embrace it because it is here and it doesn't care if you hate it or not.

I don't want another pick. The club doesn't either. They want prime mature footballers who can perform.

And I'm not at all scared of FA but it's time to reassess how we deal with it. We are 0-3 so far losing Moloney, Rivers and Sylvia. We have to get on the front foot to secure Frawley.

As for those saying we can just match the contract well that might have been an option but this Franklin deal has shown that a club is not at all scared of the "restricted" FA and have plenty of ways to deal with that problem.

We want to keep our free agents, we need to be a better club.

We want to be a better club we need to keep our required free agents.

Hopefully we come out strong at the start of the year and we can sign a few players like Frawley and Hogan.

Big if though - so either that or we try and get some contracts after a "good" preseason.

Threaten to match it and do a deal. Or not. And I would prefer to keep him aswell, but the point I made was that there are options next summer, there is no need for us to put an ultimatum to him this October.

If Rivers stayed would Tom McDonald ask to be traded, Rivers stays for two more seasons Tom says for seven. Geelong make tough calls(yes I'm aware Rivers walked) but this year Chappy and JPOD are told no more. This allows them to elevate players full time into the starting 22 rather than in and out depending on injuries and prepare the next batch coming through. Sylvia is an 'icing on the cake player' , I think it's best for both party's he's gone. Hopefully Mitch and Dawes can stay injury free and we have a successful trade period, start to show dramatic improvement. One thing we have going for us is that Chip, Garland, Tom Mc, Mitch , Dawes , Watts, Jones are all aged between 21-26. There is some talent there all in their prime. On top of that we have Viney , Toumpas and Hogan. If there is any truth to Beams and Rockcilff wanting out we should pay big$$ to land one of them. This should be our last payment of this type as we start to have the makings of a good footy side.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
