GAME DAY - Round 11

Featured Replies

Just watched the replay at the ground of the 2004 QB match. Troy B. and Peter Walsh and Scott Thompson were seriously good players.

Haven't we gone back a long way since then? And will the bloody ground announcer shut the fsck up please??

Would be nice for once if the boys "walked the talk" instead of just "talking the talk".

I reckon Collingwood are falling apart - Collingwood says forward Andrew Krakouer will return

It wasn't all that long ago that Krakouer was the matchwinner for them and we would surely have struggled to match him up today. They've also lost Jamie Elliott who would have been a bit of a worry too. Elliott's been replaced by first gamer Adam Oxley. I'd like to see three of our blokes corral him in the first five minutes and give him a bit of an 'initiation'.

Won't happen. Oxley's the sub. Tappy's ours.

I did the old match up thing, and I can only find four winners for us in the starting 18 - Sylvia over Macaffer, Watts over Williams, Dawes over Reid and Nate Jones over Blair. And the last two are really a split decision and suspension of disbelief that Jones won't be run off by Pendelbury, Swan or Sidebottom.

I know they never match up like that, but it is a good 'finger in the air' measure of how things might pan out.

The answer: Not well.

The sun is out and I'm mildly excited about an almost certain shellacking.

Go Dees!

for some reason I am excited about the game

I feel it will be close

Yes i am insane

I'm having an inexplicably mixed feeling about this game.

Nervous in a way I haven't often been for years, like it could actually be positive. Nervous in anticipation of a significant game.

Strange. Figured I should post this before the game just in case it turns out to be some kind of prescience.

Ha ha!

I figured it out - if we win we will END Collingwood's season. Fun times trashing the FIGJAM factory.

Just listening to John Ralph, it sounds like a shake up is starting to take place.

ABOUT TIME!!

Any details 316?

A independant review of all board members will be carried out.

Just hope it isn't thrown in the same bin as the Andrews report.

The universe is telling me not to go - first can't find car keys, then can't find membership, then train cancelled - its nearly started and I'm not even at Blackburn...

Will Peter Jackson review his own performance?

Everyone at melbourne wll be reviewed including Don Mclardy. Also saying that we are going to go to the afl and ask for a some cash which apperently could be used to pay out Neeld

Intresting times ahead!

C'wood GWM 109 pts (1919); Highest 27-11 (173) (1996).

They will miss Ellliot, he'd be worth chasing if he is out of contract, very good player.

Looks like Collingwood showing us zero respect playing so many kids.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
