Maybe it is some "players" that have aired their concerns to the Ox. I agree, to have such statements published in the media and attributed to a favourite son is over the top, but perhaps Ox knows more than we do.

Rumour rumour rumour, let's start a rumour.....trying to justify the small coterie of haters posting in this topic.......

At least he would make a decision, you think the board putting the coach on notice is any less 'noise' for the players?!? You [censored]!! You think there isn't this talk and more already internally? The players have known for weeks the coach isn't being supported and is a lame duck!!!

The board's decision on Monday was the right decision. If MN continues with this performance he isn't going to be coaching next year - that's a reality that all pro and anti-Neeld supporters have to face.

What they have essentially done is let him know that that by putting him on notice and given him a chance to change to change it.

That's a luxury no other coach has been given in this situation.

It also puts the players on notice. No player likes it when their coach gets axed. From what I heard a big concern was the effect axing Neeld would have on the players who have improved under him (Garland, Jones, Davey ect.), the young developing players who like Neeld (Terlich, Viney Evans) and the playing group as a whole.

This way the playing group are also on notice - their lack of effort is tied with their coaches fate.

From what I've seen alot of people like this strategy, even anti-Neeld supporters.

Its a win win win:

Win for our financials in that if he stays for the rest on the year we save $200,000

Win for Mark in that has a benchmark he can improve and show why he should continue next year

Win for the players to be given a chance to back their coach rather than him getting axed straight away

They clearly have some support in the sense they are giving him a chance - don't believe the polarizing by the media that the only person who supported him was PJ.

Next time drop the personal attacks.

His article was fairly elementary: he hopes we get flogged so Neeld gets axed because supporters are/will leave the club if he stays... even blind Freddy could write a churnalism article about that and not need to have insider knowledge.

I doubt he knows something else about the positive correlation between MN and reduced membership/attendance than we don't already know

He was right about scully, I would take the what the Ox says much more seriously than Garry Lyon!!!

Everybody was right about Scully, is there anyone who didn't think he was going to leave, only Tom Scully knows the real reason he left, like everything else it is specualtion

Whilst I can understand supporters having a crack at the OX, those same supporters need a realty check on how the other half see the MFC world. Neeld is fast becoming the most unpopular senior coach at this club in its history.

The club board has some very ordinary performers and a lot of people have reached despair with this club.

OX is just a guy who loves the club and sees the need for change and it is urgent. This requires a revolution not the same thought processes that have prevailed for 40 odd years. This also includes the thought processes of supporters of the MFC.

Try again, it is not a half, 10 posters on here against 30000+\

40 years, the Club last played finals 6 years ago not 40, stop looking over the shoulder

Forget the performance for the rest of the year, the reality is Mark Neeld will not be coaching this football side next year and therefore should be moved on in the very near future.

I’m not sure that we should be too concerned about possible affects this may have on players that have improved under MN……..

All theories & BS there PJ..... I thought the players had been put on notice months ago. 186 showed it doesn't matter how much the playing group supposedly likes or supports the coach. Our board is pathetic, weak and will have us on welfare soon enough. A board member said to the media they are constantly reviewing these positions (in reference to the coach), hardly support for what the coach is doing with the group. Where is the big statement like 'He is our coach, we back him 100%, he's doing the best he can and we will wait until the ed of the season to do a full review of the whole footy department, not just the coach.' That is support. This middle ground, trying to manage all sides of the equation will satisfy no one and means that when they do show their hand and sack him at years end, it really was another wasted season. Sack him this week and at least attendance would be up & most supporters would feel like something is being done. How many times does this group need to be put in notice? Our 'notice' must seem like a right laugh these days!!

My point was he called it early & honestly as soon as he knew, and many on here criticized him big time for it then saying he was destabilizing the club. Then it turned out the deal was as good as done way earlier than anyone predicted, so the club looked like morons anyway. Meanwhile Garry kept that whole facade thing going trying to save face for the club. We should have put the acid on scully as a club and sent him to the vfl for the rest of the season like the crows did with Davis. Oh hang on, Davis was honest, maybe that's why he's a captain instead of the million dollar baby. We as a club continue to make horrible decisions from the very top.

PJ, how are we saving $200k by keeping him btw? Is that the salary we'll be paying him to stay on anyway? Or does he get paid a termination bonus if we sack him early?!? Ha!!

We have 15 other coaches, I'm sure we could sack him, make Rawlings, Craig or even Viney interim coach till the end of the year and be in the same position financially at years end. You think Rawlings won't take the opportunity because he's still on his assistants pay packet?

Posted

Then when is the Ox gonna nominate for the Board?

There are 33000 members, is that regarded as few?

They support the team

We have a new CEO who will recommend and implement changes, we don't need Ox, supposedly who bleeds red and blue, stoking the fire

If and when Peter Jackson carries out his actions, and if one of them includes sacking Mark Neeld, you will then find the few will support this, may not be happy, but support, coz they support the Club

By the way your definition of 'guts' seems a little skewed, guys fighting in Afghanistan have it, the Ox typing on a computer, taking cheap shots doesn't

Actually, the guys fighting in Afghanistan are paid mercenary thugs who have invaded another country with supreme weapons and finances. I see no heroism in that. I truly brave person is one that says, 'hell no', what have the afghans ever done to me and my country.

In regards to the current board, they need to be overthrown, the only way you can chop down a tree, is with an axe. We need fire right now, not yes men like yourself.

thanks for your opinion, but no thanks. Your brains have been robotized. Start thinking for yourself, if possible. I know the Australian Army is designed to turn people into yes men, and you have proven that even further.

This thrread highlights the problems with the MFC, and how we have run for the past 20 years at least.

As soon as the current regime isn't or stops producing results, and the supporter base, explayers and prominent supporters all gs feral publically.

We are one club for ***** sake. Don't diss the club in public, work together to solve the issue, we are wanting the same goal.

If Rawlings gets elevated to head coach after Neeld is paid out, we'll obviously have to pay him more. You can't make someone do a head coach's job on only an assistant coach's salary. By sacking Neeld you'll be burning this extra money on his replacement - hence losing money.

That's the crux of the issue - we WANT to get rid of Neeld but we can't afford to pay him out!

Wow, you have no idea do you, yes men, robotized...............

Suggest you read up on the history of Afghanistan and Nth Pakistan.

Anyway a question on this.. thought you said you were an employer, do you allow your employees to disagree with you if you make a wrong decision and not carry it out....honest answer please

The Ox is not brave, he made a statement, anybody can make a statement, as long as you don't have to back it up and it won't impact him personally

Come one then where is the petition you have organised to overthrow the board, or you waiting for the Ox to do it, if so you will be waiting a very long time.

Obviously you don't read or comprehend my posts clearly, bit like WYL really, I am not happy Jan, but there is a guy called Peter Jackson who has been brought in to review and fix anything that needs fixing, I am waiting to see what he says needs fixing

Ofcourse I let my employees override me if I am wrong. Ofcourse I do. I would be out of business if I didn't. I am just a man, and some of my employees know more about certain things than me. We have a very raw & open dialogue which often borders on screaming at each other to get our point across. I don't see myself as better than anyone, I am just responsible for keeping the company sustainable.

As for history, I suggest you read thru your history books and understand WHO created Pakistan, and for what reason.

Have you ever heard a term, divide and conquer?

As for Afghanistan, if you think cave dwellers committed the crime of September 11, I suggest you look more closely at the people controlling the finances of the world.

If only you could think for yourself, you would see that some leaders are incompetent. Does GW Bush ring a bell? Your grand master.

Wtf? Go on PM me all your historical knowledge on those regions!! Ha! Is that why we are there? Go back to watching the bs on the tv news, the brain washing suits you. Those blokes are over there cause they were sent there. 10 years later none of em even know who or what they are fighting for, go ask some of them like I have. Then once they know the whole thing is BS for some other reason kept from us all, they get labelled dangerous on their return, must be suffering PTS, we better demonise them, medicate them and dumb them down some more then..... Our government is a disgrace worse than the MFC board!!

You brought this topic on yourself and it does show how gullible and simple you really are.

Eeeekkkk....even worse, you are a conspiracy theorist...........I know why Pakistan was created, studied it at school.

By the way your staff is responsible for keeping the company sustainable, a mistake a lot of bosses make, you just point them in the right direction (hopefully)

Can see why you post like you do now......"borders on screaming"....eeekkk again

Again back on topic, so let's see some action on your part, get your petition and let me see what it advocates and why and I will look at signing if I agree

It is amazing that Satyriconhome brings the name WYL into all his robotized "Re Neducation" prepared answers.

The record of the last 6 years speaks for itself. No other club would put up with the tripe we have endured (Jimmy's death aside)

The Ox is bang on the money.

I hope he has had a word with JGK.

i hated Jeff as Premier but he is the man we need right now.

Re watch his Footy Classified ep from this year.

He could wake the old girl up.

Again whoa........hopefully you are a veteran, like lots of things, there is sadly a small minority who have suffered and thankfully the government is getting better at looking after them, brought on by a bit more knowledge and actually listening to them, I know coz I know one as well....this topic certainly exposes the inner psyche of some posters and goes some way to explaining why they post what they do

We're all theorists one way or the other, but have you actually looked at the evidence or do you just like being scared of the term conspiracy? Because they do exist you know whether you can face it or not.

I put WYL in every post that doesn't involve WYL, because I know WYL that you read the posts, and the fact that I post WYL irritates you.........you seem to have a lot of hate in you WYL.........not an emotion I have much contact with, perhaps it's the well rounded personally satisfying life I have led

No not hate Satyricon. I just despise seeing a professional organization that i consider to be family run so poorly.

I spent 7 years in hospital as a kid. I learnt to fight for my survival.

I wish the MFC would do the same.

It is quite straight forward.

You may not like it but the Ox is right.

If the thumpings continue nobody will turn up.

It's a matter of time.

I think the Ox's comments were misguided, maybe inappropriate, probably an emotional point made badly.

But he is spot on about one thing - members, supporters, theatre goers are being given nothing, abolutely nothing, to hang on to - no reason to turn up week after week.

When 60+ point drubbings are the norm, when games are shot to bits 15 minutes in, then there must be change.
