Sluggish and Slow

Featured Replies

Significant improvement on late yesterday, but still seems slower than normal.

Agree.

Is the speed of the site Neelds fault? Or perhaps the boards? But seriously the name of the thread is a little misleading. I was sure it was referring to the dees playing list.

It's part of the plan to make Demonland the hardest site to play against.

For those having problems, how was it going on Sunday night? Looking at the data, that was when "stress" on the server peaked in the last 7 days. That was match day, so I'm assuming you were all online with torches and pitchforks armed as I was ;)

Right now, it isn't under much stress at all (with ~600 users online).

Stuie was jamming up the airwaves with his funny photos that do things.

Everyone else was jamming it up poor old Mark Neeld.

Weekly meltdown.

I'm finding the site unusable at the moment.

I'm on a Mac Desktop with Telstra. Also unuseable on by iPhone with Telstra.

Can other also experiencing problems report what device you are using as well as your ISP.

Also let us know if your aren't experiencing issues and what ISP you are on.

Not sure if that information will help but you never know.

Been particularly slow for past week.

I expect it will help. It's absolutely fine for me on my Internode account (which uses the iiNet network), but on my Telstra 3G (tethered to laptop, so identical device basically) it is, as you put it earlier, SADB. As maurie said before, the server is hosted in Japan, and each ISP takes a different route to get there, so there's lots of things that can die in between. I suspect (hope) that this is confined to Telstra customers.

Edit:

I'm interested in hearing from *anyone* at the moment on what you're seeing. Let us know who your internet provider is (e.g. Telstra, Optus, Internode, iiNet etc) and how responsive the site is being for you at present.

A month's ban for anyone who I see in the "users reading this topic" list who doesn't respond to the above request. :P

Found the issue, it's network related (a piece of infrastructure between us and the server - seems only Telstra customers are on that particular path). Will follow up tomorrow - have a couple of solutions in mind, but this issue will probably linger a few days. Hang tight all - thanks for your patience.

Please run with a "Rebuildind server, rebuild expected to last a further 3 to 5 years" gag or similar. That screenshot would make my day. (And I'm currently in hospital - ding my best to get a Jack Viney sympathetic moon boot - so cheering up is a good thing!)

With Telstra as well. Unusable the last 3 or so days. Seems much better today. (Thursday).

Slow Bigpond ADSL.

Couldn't get on at all between 6pm and 12 last night. Lots of whizzing!

Seems fine now.

With Telstra as well. On G3 wireless, which reduces to around what dialup speeds used to be as soon as there are half a dozen mobile users connected, so I didn't notice the problem initially ... or at least until pages stopped loading altogether. Last night no connection at all. Now seems ok.

never thought I'd say this but

Optus if fine.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
