No need for the last line - especially the faux swearing.

Just drop the last line jr

He who is without blame cast the first stone

Hahaha, this is great. Hurley looks like a footballer until he kicks it. I hope they beat them by 50 or 60.

Geelong are just so good. Their ability to absorb the pressure in quarter 2 and turn it around to their favour is amazing.

Personally I have never liked the Bombers but I am totally sick of Geelong and their father-sons and other freak players they unearth every year. And don't start me on Joel Selwood! If only he had gone to one of the struggling clubs who need his type, such as us or the doggies. No player development was involved with Joel he was A grade from day one. Go Essendon sort of! But I see their getting Bath now so forget it.

Sorry OD, can't do.

These blokes look huge and we all know weights don't get you that big.

Some of the creative handballing tonight. Some of it is as good as a kick. Lots of handballs over the head that always seem to hit targets too. So impressive.

Are we pure in this area jr?

Oh and while we're praising. How well do they set up at stoppages? Amazing. It's not just in the midfield too. They set up with discipline right around the ground. The backline is brilliant too.

Traditional Bombers surge in the last quarter. Always able to run out the game better than their opponent this year. How do they manage it?

Oh, right.

Great, and underrated, point.

The handball to Johnson in the 3rd quarter and the handball to Smedts in the 4th underscore this point.

Creative, confident play that backs teammates hard running and ability.

hope our boys are watching, it's amazing how Geelong do the basic things so well and it stands up under any pressure from any team

Yep. It's horrible what a decent recruiting setup can do. You've just got to hate what a professional football club does when compared to the rabble that we have.

Geelong have been undeniably lucky with their father/son draft picks, but you still have to develop them. Credit to Geelong. They can't be questioned. 125 wins from 150 games. Imagine that.

All the players they bring in through the draft have great clean hands & can handle contested footy almost straight away. Wells has got to be the best recruiting manager in the AFL. It would be great if the club could do whatever it takes to get him to Melbourne. Sadly it will never happen.

What a team. You can only admire them.

My mother and two sisters are Cats supporters.

Dad and I are Dee's

Nice one Dad.

Cats by 28, yet Ess won the clearances 41-22 (or thereabouts, depending on the bloke doing the tally marks).

It looks to me that Scott is willing to concede pure clearance numbers if it means that his team is set up better further down the ground, thus creating more rebound and run & carry opportunities. This appears to be a strategy to negate one of the key strengths of the premiers, and although the coach will publicly bemoan his team's clearance numbers, I feel it is a calculated and well considered ploy.

If it is ultimately successful, maybe Neeld can say we were pioneers in this area.

What a great side they are. We can only dream.

Hurley is the most overrated player by all commentators

Amen. And not only is he overrated but he is also a very selfish footballer who blades away instead of passing to teammates in better positions. Love it.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
