I would love to see Kent get a call-up, but having finally seen the team in action I can't see whose spot he is going to take. Byrnes, Evans and Sylvia were all very good on the weekend, and Davey did well as the sub. That pretty much covers us for the HFF/Midfield crossover role. Given that we seem to have a pretty good group in the side right now in those roles, I have no problem with him spending time at Casey working on his defensive pressure, consistency and teamwork with Hogan.

I'd say he'd be fighting for Tapscott's position.

Toumpas played very well in the game at the Gold Coast. I was there and was quite impressed with both he and Matt Jones, and said on here that based on that performance, they both should play Round 1.

Kent has had 1 game at Casey where he was in the best (and it was 6th best too, not BOG). He clearly has things that he needs to work on, and when he starts doing that consistently, he will get a call up.

We couldn't play all the debutants in Round 1, so some had to miss out, and I'm happy that it wasn't Matt Jones.

It will really benefit the young fellas playing together at Casey and consistently winning.

This will enable us to form a winning core of players for the future, namely Hogan, Magner, Toumpas, Tynan and Taggert.

As for Kent, he hasn't been doing it defensively and Neeld has stated this. Fair enough, make him work even harder for his spot and make a better player of him.

I understand that he hasn't been doing the defensive stuff well enough, but i would love to see him play as a sub, just unleash him and tell him to play his game, good chance he will do plenty of damage in a one quarter burst and his opponent will be abit more tired so less likely to have as much of an impact the other way.

I reckon Kents nab cup campaign was overrated.

Sure he looked promising but he only played a mini game v north and that 'under 23's game v Port.

I agree. Alot are rating him based on 40 minutes against North and a match report against an underage Port. I watched him on the weekend, he was the least effective player in the first half, was good in the third and just went in the last. I do agree though that Jimmy did not earn a round 1 game and will be better developed getting some solid Casey form.

I think giving players a run in the VFL to be a good way to try to get them back into form, or get them used to playing football at a high level. Resting watts and Jimmy seems to have deprived them of a chance of getting a bit of match practice.
