Former Demon Recruiting Manager Craig Cameron recently quit his role as Tigers Footy manager, to take up the position of CEO of BC3 Thoroughbreds. Today he signed for the purchase of Black Caviar's little brother, for an Australian record price for a yearling at $5million. His company also bought the older sister last year for $2.6million.

It's hardly doing well to pick out the brother of a superstar and pay through the nose to do so..

Think Maykbe Diva's son was purchased for 2 mil and sold for 17,000 a couple of years later.

So, we might be bumping this thread in the future and saying CC is not doing so well at all..

True, but I doubt Cameron has much stake. In fact if they are clever enough BC3 aren't risking too much. Their bread and butter clients are people who go in 5,000 for a 10% share or less I would think. There's every chance one if not both of these horses are good enough to get them some serious advertising.

As for the 5 million outlay this colt is so expensive and such a risky investment that one individual was priced out. So these guys have a group of their non core investors to buy him.

Usually syndicators buy horses them have to sell them. Here they've taken an aggressive approach and formed a powerful team of investors to buy the horse. Could work very nicely.

The horse has the breeding to be a stallion even if he can't run. I am sure if he proves to be slow, he will get a mystery injury and never race.

Gai's horses are the fittest!

If there is any knock on Gai, she can often run her horses into the ground!

It's recruitment, not development, it's breeding - but just because Black Caviar is a champion, doesn't mean this horse will be.

Breeding wise, he is better bred than her - being by Redoutes Choice, who is one of the most successful sires in the past decade.

But, for 5 million, it's a decent risk, you can't send him to stud and expect to get good mares - if he isn't much chop on the track.

Could be a champion, could be a flop.

If they can afford the risk, then why not I guess.
