The experiment started last year. There has been nothing since that time that gives ANY indication that the experiment will succeed.

2 provisos:

• what effect would sacking Neeld have on the players? They are at rock bottom now; just might be enough to finish them
• what has been the effect of the never-ending dramas on the individuals at the club. As Jackson said, it might be deep

I see what you are saying, but we can't just accept performances like that either, the players claim to be united but nothing on the field reflects that.

I think Mark Neeld needs to go, just to show the players that it won't be accepted.

No he won't he will be on the tele as usual telling us it's not his fault. As I said elsewhere Lyon was a good footballer but has no idea about football.

As much as he can string some concise words together as a 'footy analyst' on Triple M, I think you're right.

Peter Jackson has my vote of confidence. Neeld had it but lost it. Neil Craig is in charge of sports performance... I rate him highly so just what is the problem down there?

It was said a long time ago, early last year by Grant Thomas I believe, that Mark Neeld was the first coach to lose the players before a game was played, this I thought was rubbish, but my eyes, with the benefit of hindsight tells me otherwise.

What a horrible situation we are in:

Sacking a coach so early into their tenure is not a good way to encourage high quality potential applicants, and is a costly process; but

Keeping a coach who has lost the players and supporters is not a good way to encourage high quality players (stay or arrive), and is a costly process!

For what it's worth I would love to see Neeld just take a man on man approach, with his focus soley on the midfield. The backs and forwards will benefit significantly from any improvement from this area.

Here's an idea - sack the coach and then have a lottery on thursday night to allow a member to coach for a game.

There is zero unity demonstrated on the field in this group. The empty rhetoric coming out of the club is only fooling some. No player can be happy putting together these utterly shambolic performances, the likes of which we haven't seen, and after 20 months, they are undeniably Neeld's product.

I see little point in waiting til season's end to make what is an obvious call.

I thought Grant was being negative and outlandish. I thought the same of King when he said similar. I defended neeld despite strange decisions - pushing Moloney out; making a kid a captain; poor performances, low morale/confidence. I thought that at least with a preseason and some recruiting tweeks we will get to see what Neeld can do and I think all anyione wanted to see was effort. Instead we see a list of players playing for themselves, hoping they arent the one that looks the worst in the highlight reel.

Ah better times. The Daniher years were great.

I often wonder whether we ever had a chance of getting Ross Lyon and where we would be right now if we had moved harder on that?? Maybe im just dreaming

Under Daniher we didnt sack out captain (James McDonald) or shaft Robbo and Bruce. Under Daniher even in 2006 we still had a half decent list although there were some obviously poor recruiting decisions even make then (or as far back as Luke Nolan or what ever his name was - but they can happen to anyone). Under Daniher we didnt tank so overtly that it was obvious to everyone and it ended in our brand getting tarnished just to get a pick that wanted out of the club as soon as he could.

Things were a little dicey in the last years of the Daniher tenure but things went to joke territory afterwards and Im yet to see anything to indicate that its changed...

Surely Neeld isn't going to get through this?

I am normally anti sacking mid season but this is very unusual circumstances. Neeld has lost me totally....

Yeah I'm done with Neeld. Seeing the suns coast through the middle of the ground with such ease made me sick. I have defended Neeld and asked for time but we have none to give.

At least he will get the players attention.

I feel for Neeld I really do. he must be losing confidence in himself and his ability to coach. I really thought he was the man for us. Im sick of getting in new people, But I fear that more players will walk, players we need because they are sick of losing.

Ultimately they're the ones who can do something about that, being lazy and sooky makes them half the problem.
