Watching the VFL on abc and I noticed Jordan Gysberts playing for Werribee. I really don't think we will miss this bloke, his kicking is atrocious and lacks any presence at all and he is slow as a snail.

He reminds me a lot of Chris Heffernan ...

Ugh ... In the same way that we're all waiting to see how our recruits go through the year so should you with Gysberts. The guy has loads of talent and it was a gamble of a trade which could go either way, but I wouldn't judge the success or failure of that gamble on a VFL practice match.

It means bugger all if you don't develop it either. I would have loved it if Neeld had given Gysberts a bit longer and cracked the whip on him to at least see what he could be. Pederson might end up being great for us, but more than likely he'll be a depth player who plays most weeks at Casey, whereas we had a very talented young mid on our list who could have benefited from a hard coach like Neeld.

But who knows? Maybe his attitude wasn't right, maybe there was personal problems, none of us really know. In the end, it's a shame it didn't work out, and here's hoping we win the gamble.

None of us know that. If that was the reason Neeld moved him on then I don't have a problem with it, as long as all avenues were exhausted. Still think the trade was a gamble, and would rather Neeld toughen up players than ship them out every time.

What I do know is that he may be serviceable for Norf but was not for us.

Yup, struggled in 2012 for various reasons, but still maintain it's a gamble trade, not saying wrong, just a big gamble that we hopefully win.

We've got enough fringe VFL players, we desperately need talented mids and Gys is one of those, yet to be seen if he lives up to his potential but that's how it goes in AFL.
